Grand Theft Auto 6 finally arrives on November 19, but not for us, no—the big day is only for gamers on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. We're not being completely excluded, though: We can't have GTA 6 in November, but we can take advantage of pre-release discounts on a bunch of older GTA games—deals that, ironically, don't appear to be available on consoles. As noted by GamesRadar, there are four GTA games available in two releases: Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, and San Andreas bundled up in the GTA Trilogy for $19.79/£19.79/€19.79—67% off the regular price—and Grand Theft Auto 4: Complete Edition, which includes The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony expansions, for $6/£5.09/€6, a 70% discount. Those aren't the deepest discounts ever seen, but Grand Theft Auto games typically don't venture into the 90% off territory we all enjoy so much—and according to Isthereanydeal.com, this is as low as the GTA Trilogy has ever gone, and close to the mark for GTA 4.You may recall that the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition was a mess when it launched in 2021, but it seems to have turned that frown upside-down since then: On Steam, where the trilogy arrived in 2023, Vice City and San Andreas both hold "very positive" ratings. GTA 3 is stuck at a "mixed" rating, which is unfortunate: Glancing at user reviews, it sounds like the game still isn't in perfect shape, but it's also suffering from the fact that it's 25 years old, and was the first 3D game in the series—some jank and roughness was there right from the start.Grand Theft Auto 4: The Complete Edition, on the other hand, doesn't suffer from those shortcomings. It's getting pretty long in the tooth too—it came out in 2008—but represents a shift in design and tone that led the series into what it is today. If you're looking for just one older GTA game to horse around with, this is the one, especially given that it's less than half the cost of the trilogy. As mentioned, these sale prices are currently only being offered on Steam: There's currently no sign of any of them on either the Xbox or PlayStation stores (Fun fact: there actually is no digital version of GTA 4 on the PS Store because Sony didn't start selling full-priced games online until well after 2008). Maybe it's just coincidence, but they do appear to be intentional pre-GTA 6 sales: The discounts are on until November 19, when Grand Theft Auto 6 launches—except on PC.
