XAUUSD — 4141 Rejected. Can Buyers Defend 4047? GoldOANDA:XAUUSDEthan_TraderPro Gold has recovered strongly, but the battle is far from over. After rallying from the 3,870 region towards 4,141, XAUUSD ran into heavy resistance near the upper buy-side liquidity zone. Sellers responded aggressively, pushing price back towards 4,047 before buyers stepped in again. Now gold is trading around 4,070, and something interesting is developing. Buyers are defending the lower trading area, but sellers still have an important resistance zone waiting above. Is this the start of another recovery towards 4,141, or simply a pullback before the next bearish move? My short-term view remains cautious below 4,080–4,093, with 4,047 acting as the immediate structural support. THE LIQUIDITY STORY BEHIND THE RECENT MOVE Look at how gold moved during the past week. The market initially recovered from the previous lows around 3,870–3,895, building strong bullish momentum before breaking through several resistance levels. That recovery eventually carried gold into the 4,135–4,145 region. This is where the chart becomes interesting. The upper purple zone represents an important buy-side liquidity area, with previous highs concentrated around 4,141. From an ICT perspective, the move into this region may have allowed liquidity above previous highs to be tested before selling pressure returned. The rejection produced a sharp corrective decline towards 4,047. However, the market has not established a completely new bearish structure yet. Buyers have managed to defend the lower area and produce another rebound. The next test is whether this recovery can reclaim the resistance immediately overhead. VOLUME PROFILE — WHY 4047 MATTERS The latest Volume Profile reveals an important shift in trading activity. During the strong recovery, gold moved rapidly from lower prices towards the upper liquidity around 4,141. Following the rejection, trading activity became concentrated around the 4,045–4,060 region. The horizontal volume reference near 4,047.028 is particularly important. This is where price has recently found buying interest after the correction. However, high trading volume does not automatically mean institutional accumulation. It tells us where the market has been active. What matters now is whether buyers can continue maintaining price acceptance above this area. If gold holds 4,047, another attempt towards 4,080–4,093 becomes possible. But if this level breaks and sellers establish acceptance below it, the current recovery could begin losing strength. 4080–4093 — WHERE THE NEXT TRAP COULD FORM The first significant resistance area sits around 4,080–4,093. This region previously acted as an important reaction area and now stands directly above the current price. A recovery into this zone would be an important test of buyer strength. If gold reaches the area but fails to break through, sellers could use the rebound to establish another lower high. That would strengthen the possibility of a return towards 4,047. A confirmed bearish Market Structure Shift (MSS) following rejection would provide additional confirmation. However, a strong breakout followed by a successful retest above 4,093 would change the short-term picture. Under that condition, buyers could begin targeting the higher liquidity zone again. 4141 — THE BIGGER LIQUIDITY TEST The upper resistance around 4,135–4,145 remains the most important upside reference. Price has already shown a strong selling reaction from this region. That tells us buyers cannot simply assume another breakout will succeed. If gold returns to 4,141, I will be watching for two possible reactions. A liquidity sweep followed by immediate bearish displacement could signal another rejection. But if buyers break through the zone, maintain acceptance above it and continue building higher lows, the previous bearish rejection would lose significance. This is why I prefer following the market structure rather than predicting that every resistance must hold. WHAT HAPPENS IF 4047 BREAKS? This is the downside risk I am watching. If gold loses 4,047 and fails to reclaim the level, the short-term recovery structure becomes vulnerable. The psychological 4,000 region and former liquidity near 3,980–3,990 could then attract attention. A deeper decline could eventually expose the previous demand region around 3,930–3,945. That zone was part of the base from which buyers launched the strong upward expansion. A reaction there would need fresh confirmation rather than an assumption that demand must hold again. MY TRADING SCENARIOS Scenario One — Bearish Rejection (Priority Watch) Gold recovers into 4,080–4,093 but fails to sustain higher prices. Entry zone: 4,080–4,093, only after bearish confirmation. Stop loss: Above the confirmed rejection swing high. TP1: 4,047 TP2: 4,000–3,990 Extended target: 3,930–3,945 if selling pressure accelerates. Invalidation: Sustained acceptance above 4,093 with a successful bullish retest. Scenario Two — Buyers Defend Support Gold pulls back towards 4,047 and produces a strong bullish reaction. A liquidity sweep followed by bullish displacement and a confirmed MSS could support another recovery. First upside objective: 4,080–4,093. If buyers break and hold above that resistance, 4,135–4,145 becomes the next important target. Scenario Three — Stronger Bearish Extension Gold breaks below 4,047 and fails to reclaim the level. Under this condition, I would focus on the possibility of further downside towards 4,000–3,990, followed by the lower demand around 3,930–3,945. ETHAN'S KEY TRADING ZONES Current Chart Price: 4,070.590 4,135–4,145 — Major Buy-Side Liquidity The upper supply and liquidity zone where the recent rejection occurred. Key reference: 4,141.670. 4,080–4,093 — Immediate Recovery Resistance The next important upside test. Rejection could support another corrective decline. 4,047.028 — Key Volume Profile Support The main short-term decision level separating the current recovery from a deeper pullback. 4,000–3,990 — Lower Structural Reference Potential downside objective if 4,047 fails. 3,930–3,945 — Major Lower Demand An important previous reaction zone from the recent bullish expansion. 3,895.711 — Previous Lower Liquidity 3,870.447 — Major Historical Low Bullish Confirmation: Sustained reclaim above 4,093, successful retest and bullish structural continuation. Bearish Confirmation: Rejection from 4,080–4,093 followed by bearish displacement, or a confirmed breakdown below 4,047. Short-Term Bearish Invalidation: Sustained acceptance above 4,093. Broader Bearish Invalidation: A confirmed breakout and hold above the 4,135–4,145 liquidity zone. ETHAN'S WEEKEND VIEW Gold has shown impressive strength from the previous lows, but the rejection near 4,141 reminds us that overhead liquidity remains a serious obstacle. The latest recovery from 4,047 is constructive for buyers. However, the market still needs to prove that it can reclaim higher resistance. For next week, I am watching three important levels. 4,047 — The support buyers need to defend. 4,093 — The resistance that could decide whether the recovery becomes stronger. 4,141 — The upper liquidity zone where the bigger battle may unfold. My preferred short-term scenario is to observe a recovery towards 4,080–4,093 and assess whether sellers can defend that area. If sellers regain control, 4,047 becomes the immediate downside objective. But if buyers break through resistance and sustain higher prices, another attempt towards 4,141 could develop. I don't need gold to follow every projected move. I want to see who controls the next reaction. Now here's my question for you. Gold has already rejected 4,141 once. Will buyers defend 4,047 and return to challenge the highs, or will the next rejection send XAUUSD back towards 4,000? What's your target for next week? 4047, 4141 or 3990? Drop your outlook in the comments. I'm interested to see how other traders are reading this structure.
