I’ve applied to nursing school as my first choice after secondary school, but I am scared that I’m making the wrong decision. For the longest time I’ve been trying to convince myself that I want to be a doctor because of parental pressure, but this past year my interest in nursing has grown and grown from videos I see on YouTube. Only thing is, I tend to get lost in my head (by that I mean definitely a maladaptive daydreamer. Working on it tho) and now I’m scared that I only like the idea of being a nurse and not the actual career. Like romanticising it instead of seeing it for its good and bad parts. I think part of the problem is the fact that my parents have pushed doctor on me for so long, so I’ve never been able to consider anything else. I find myself trying to figure out how to ‘morph’ nursing into something closer to doctor so they can be happier with me, but that is so wrong. I’m not sure how to feel, and I’m scared that they are right about me making the wrong choice. I haven’t even faced my family on my father’s side yet (I haven’t even their last name and they really wanted there to be a Doctor (Insert last name) in the family. It’s mostly about status). How can I be sure? How did you know you made the right decision? submitted by /u/Southern-Insect4280 [link] [comments]
