Do You Own A Pet? MSPCA Wants To Hear From You In New Malta-Wide Survey

Are young people in Malta more likely to own pets than older generations? According to a survey, the difference is surprisingly big.A 2024 survey involving 516 respondents found that 82% of those aged 18 to 24 had pets, compared to just 44% of respondents aged 65 and over. Now, MSPCA Malta wants to find out whether those figures still reflect the situation today. The animal welfare organisation has launched a new survey to build an updated picture of pet ownership across Malta, and it’s calling on everyone to participate. You don’t even need to own a pet to take part.MSPCA is particularly keen to hear from a wider range of people, including those who don’t currently have any animals at home. The questionnaire takes just one to two minutes to complete and asks participants about the pets they own.The organisation hopes the responses will provide a clearer understanding of pet ownership in Malta and how it differs between age groups. While the 2024 findings suggested a substantial generational gap, the figures came from a relatively small survey and do not necessarily represent Malta’s entire population.Whether you’re a proud pet parent or don’t have a furry friend at home, your response could help MSPCA understand how Malta’s relationship with animals is changing.•
