Taurus has added a Flat Dark Earth finish to the TX9, and it covers all three sizes at once: full-size, compact and sub-compact. Both the slide and frame are FDE, with a matte black barrel peeking out through the ejection port. Taurus marketing GM Caleb Giddings put it simply when he said that in a world of flat-black semi-autos, FDE just looks awesome. I agree with him. A tan pistol stands out in a gun case full of black ones. The TX9 is Taurus's duty-rated striker-fired 9mm, and the interesting part sits underneath the finish. It is built around the Taurus Modular System, a serialized chassis that lets the owner swap between full-size, compact and sub-compact frames. It means that one serial number can be three different pistols over its life. With FDE now offered across every size, there is no longer a mismatch between frames if you build out a set. The rest of the specification is shared across the three. Every TX9 is optics-ready through the Taurus T.O.R.O. system, uses industry-standard dovetails for the iron sights so aftermarket sights drop straight in, and comes with a removable white-dot front sight and a drift-adjustable rear. The slide release is ambidextrous, the magazine catch is reversible, and four interchangeable backstraps let you fit the grip to your hand. Safety is handled by a firing pin block and a trigger safety. Every TX9 is assembled and tested in the USA and backed by a limited lifetime warranty. The full-size (shown top) holds 17+1 rounds, the compact (shown above) has a magazine capacity of 15 rounds and the sub-compact (shown below) uses a 13-round magazine. All three ship with two magazines and have an MSRP of $499.99.
