I was inspired enough to write a fanfic. Enjoy. NOT AN AI SLOP! 42nd Millenium. Year unknown. Rogue Trader of Von Valancius line - the bearer of Most Sacred Warrant - was condemned as a heretic. Punitive Expedition, gathered to punish this wretched, impudent whelp who seemingly dared to defy Holy Terra, was complete failure to the surprise of many. All contact with The Expanse was lost ever since. Was it yet another Warp Tempest unconveniently manifesting itself, or something else? That remains a mystery most vexing. Many years have passed since then. Calixian Conclave, diverse in it's beliefs and quarrelsome as ever, gathered once more to resolve pressing issues. All Calixian Inquisitors, regardless of their philosophy, came to meet each other. Anton Zerbe, lady Olianthe, Millicentilia and countless others, came in the name of The Emperor to fulfill their duty to The Throne. But nobody could ever predict that this day, this very meeting, would open up a new page in the history of Calixis Sector and, perhaps, The Imperium as a whole. Every Inquisitor took their place in the gathering, but then, moments before Anton Zerbe could utter a single word, the doors opened and a lone figure entered the chamber. The man was unfamiliar to all, but his bearing, his noble features and, most importantly, a unique sigil belonging to the members of one specific strata of His servants on his beautiful clothes couldn’t lead to any other conclusion. All Inquisitors in the gathering put their hands on their weapons reflexively. Not a single one of them expected a visitor, let alone a Rogue Trader. “What is the meaning of this?!" – cried out Lord Inquisitor, standing out among his peers. “Who are you? How did you ev…” – Zerbe suddenly stopped as if time itself ceased to exist all around him. Frisson unlike any he has ever felt ran down his whole body, from head to foot. Lord Inquisitor Anton Zerbe met myriads of horrors throughout his illustrious career and solved innumerable amount of cases, he thought himself to be impervious to surprises. But the Heraldic Crest on the back of this mysterious man… Darrius Von Valancius. The expressions on other inquisitors faces became distorted with amazement and crooked smiles. “By The Throne, the infamous Darrius Von Valancius himself! Attending our meeting as Ambull’s prey attends it’s jaws! Why have you come here, betrayer of Humanity? Are you tired of depraved power you endowed yourself with? Or have you found a sliver of remorse in your wretched soul? Given your lofty former status, we will not deprive you of the opportunity to confess your crimes before this most illustrious gathering, and given your former achievements, perhaps we will grant you the mercy of quick death.” – said Zerbe in a mocking tone of someone who is about to have an interrogation most pleasurable. “Indeed, Lord Inquisitor. I came here to confess…” – Darrius lowered his head akin to someone who is about to receive due punishment. Then suddenly, he glanced at the leader of Tyrantine Cabal, his posture changed to that of pure nobility and dominance, his eyes glittering with cold fury not unlike that of most loyal servants of The Golden Throne bringing justice to His enemies. “To confess my unwavering loyalty to The God-Emperor of Humanity before this pack of treasonous heretics!” – declared Von Valancius’ scion. Any less experienced group of individuals would burst out laughing right after Darrius’ proclamation, but Inquisitors were not ordinary men and women. Darrius Von Valancius was a heretic in their eyes, of course, but he managed to earn himself a prominent reputation. A man of such stature would never do what Darrius has done without an ace up his sleeve, not to mention he somehow found out about their meeting and managed to overcome every inquisitorial defensive measure on his way here. Something was about to happen. As if commanded to do so, all inquisitors synchronously pointed their weapons at Rogue Trader, who was unflinching, proud and pompous as ever. “We are doing this the hard way it seems.” – said Zerbe, preparing himself to grant Rogue Trader The Emperor’s Peace. But when our renowned bearer of Inquisitorial Rosette pulled the trigger of his trusty weapon, with which he slaughtered so many xenos and heretics, nothing happened. The same could be said about every weapon, every equipment of every Inquisitor present. “What in the…” – Zerbe couldn’t finish before Darrius Von Valancius replied, activating his Vox Bead. “Hard way would be an understatement, my dear.” First, every weapon in the palace, no matter how big or small, turned to metallic ash so fast Inquisitors couldn’t even blink. Then, the same happened to all inquisitorial armor, all their clothes, all their wigs, cosmetics, everything. Even augmetics in some cases. A whole palace with all Calixian Inquisitors, standing ingloriously naked before the man they wanted to judge mere moments ago. Every single one of them realized that the roles have been reversed. The Judge became the judged. However, there was something else Inquisitors began to experience. And that something was far worse than everything that have happened to them thus far. To be continued. Or not. That depends on you. Did you enjoy the fanfic? If you did, there will be Part 2, maybe even part 3. submitted by /u/IHaveAGithBabe to r/RogueTraderCRPG [link] [comments]
