Arguments about wound care nurse responsibilities in our hospital?

Wait 5 sec.

Our hospital has a huge argument on the responsibilities of the wound care nurse. Basically she only does wound care evaluations. No reevaluations. The argument is: should she redress the wounds after opening up the dressing to check the wound? Some nurses say she should, some say no. So basically she comes in randomly (she has no specific work time) and asks to see a wound. She’s pretty old so she asks the bedside nurse to turn the patients. She’ll remove the optifoam/bandages, look at the wound, tells the nurse the wound treatment, then leave. And the bedside nurse has to dress or (most of the time) redress the wounds! If the patient has multiple wounds, wound care takes such a longggg time! Plus you have to go with her just to turn the patients. Just asking for feedback for those who work in med surg/tele. How does it work in your hospital? submitted by /u/vivrelavie [link] [comments]
