Tottenham have made contact with AC Milan over midfielder Youssouf Fofana, who has as many goal contributions as Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali combined.Earlier this week, Spurs Web relayed reports that the Lilywhites had set their sights on AC Milan midfielder Youssouf Fofana, who is currently enjoying a stellar loan spell with Sevilla. So far this season, the central midfielder has recorded four goal contributions in eight matches, grabbing a goal and three assists in all competitions. That is exactly what Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes have managed combined so far this season, despite costing Spurs £185 million.Fofana vs Fernandes vs Tonali – 2026/27 (all competitions)FofanaFernandesTonaliClubSevilla (on loan)SpursSpursApps8119Starts769Goals100Assists331Goal contributions431Minutes618573789Mins per contribution155191789Yellow cards020Photo by Marco Luzzani/Getty ImagesTottenham make initial contact over Youssouf FofanaWhile our earlier report claimed that Tottenham were in an open battle with Juventus, the Lilywhites now look to have taken another step in their pursuit of the Sevilla man.According to Ficherio, both Spurs and Juventus have already made ‘initial contact’ with Fofana’s parent club Milan to ‘explore the possibility of his signing at the end of the current season’.Fofana, who is not part of Ruben Amorim’s plans, has a contract with Milan that is set to expire in 2028, making next summer the perfect time for the Serie A side to cash in on him.The midfielder has a rather modest Transfermarkt value of £13 million (€15 million), while his current wages stand at £75,000 a week, which should not be a problem for the Lilywhites. What Fofana would bring to SpursAt 27, Fofana is a midfielder who will bring a wealth of experience to whichever side he joins in the future. The Sevilla man has experience at the top level, having played in Ligue 1 and La Liga, while also representing the French national team.Looking at his numbers, the midfielder does possess a key skill set that neither Tonali nor Fernandes has. So far this season, Fofana has managed more progressive carries and key passes than the two Spurs men. However, it is worth noting that Tonali and Fernandes outperform the midfielder in several other metrics, which means that, should he join, he will not be brought in as a starter and will more or less be a backup option.Youssouf Fofana vs Sandro Tonali vs Mateus Fernandes – 2026/27 percentile rankingsMetricYoussouf FofanaSandro TonaliMateus FernandesClubSevillaTottenham HotspurTottenham HotspurAge272622Duels won %9.875.924.1Possession won21.148.454.2Progressive carries63.362.157.4Forward passes37.578.279.5Forward pass %40.379.881.7Key passes91.027.366.1Progressive passes50.580.668.5Minutes played674847506READ MORE: Tottenham can only watch on as Mikey Moore’s Koln loan becomes a ‘total mess’The post Tottenham make initial contact with AC Milan over Youssouf Fofana, valued at just £13m appeared first on Spurs Web.
