A bride named Cassidy Davis said that she arrived at the Beverly Hills Courthouse in a white dress holding a bouquet, only to learn she had booked the wrong type of appointment. In her TikTok video, she explained that her best friend and her fiancé’s best friend had taken off work to serve as witnesses that morning. “Did you guys know that your marriage license appointment and your official marriage ceremony appointment are two different appointments? Because I didn’t realize that,” she said at the beginning of her video. Davis described how the group was ushered into a dark cubicle area. When they checked in, the clerk looked her up and down along with the flowers and told them this was only the marriage license appointment, not the official ceremony appointment. She said she had not known the two were separate. Clerk agrees to perform the ceremony in a dark cubicle after bride explains the mix-up In the video, Davis recalled her response. She stated, “Oh, I didn’t realize there was a difference.” The clerk then explained that they needed to get the license first and later book a separate ceremony appointment to go into the chapel and get officially married. Davis said she told the clerk that their witnesses had already taken off work, that she looked really cute, and that her bouquet would die before another appointment opened up. She asked if there was any way they could get married that day. She added that she told him it was their first time and that he replied it was hopefully their last. She answered that it was definitely their last, but also their first. According to Davis, the clerk seemed to feel bad for her because of the dress, the bouquet, and the way she was looking at him. He said he would see what he could do. He then got permission and offered to marry them right then and there in his dark cubicle at the Beverly Hills Courthouse. She noted that he was wearing a Packers lanyard. Davis said the clerk told her, “I’ll marry you today.” She replied, “Period.” He added that they would not go into the chapel and would do it right there in his cubicle. She joked that this was what she had pictured on her vision board, just her, her husband, him, and a Packers lanyard. She called it the exact vibe aesthetic she was going for. They stood holding hands in what she described as the darkest fluorescent-lit cubicle. Davis said the photos from the moment could not have looked uglier and truly could not have looked worse. The clerk, whom she identified as Alonso (also referred to as Alonzo), read from a little piece of paper he had just printed and married them. Davis said she got emotional as she said “I do,” even though they had already held a full ceremony in Italy that she described as much more touching, heartwarming, and personal. She gave a shout-out to the random guy named Alonzo who married them and said she kind of got emotional at the end when he and his Packers lanyard declared them husband and wife. She wondered why she was tearing up in a dark cubicle. She noted that the people around the cubicle seemed to get quiet during the moment, and she guessed this kind of thing happens fairly often. Weddings can stir up strong emotions for everyone present, as shown by a man’s panic attack during a wedding. She contrasted her expectations with what actually happened. She said she had pictured the Beverly Hills Courthouse with palm trees and a chic, rich feel, but it was dark cubicle vibes in the back corner of the office. She added that it was only because the clerk took pity on her that he married them that day. Davis advised future brides that the marriage license appointment and the official ceremony appointment are two different things. She said everyone in that courthouse knew that except for her, her husband, and their witnesses. She ended by saying she could not wait to frame those photos. Wedding-day setbacks come in many forms, like a bride’s delayed wedding dress order. In a follow-up TikTok post captioned as a reply, Davis wrote that the second picture showed her realizing they had f–ked up. The series of images showed her in the white dress with a bouquet of orange and yellow flowers tied with a red ribbon, standing with a bearded man in a green button-down shirt and jeans. One frame captured the man placing a ring on her finger while the clerk behind the desk looked up with a surprised expression. Viewers left comments on the original video.
