I built an app that draws your signature in a celebrity-style look and then teaches you to write it by hand

Wait 5 sec.

Hi all, solo maker from Hungary here. My own signature was a hurried scribble that I was never proud of, and every "signature generator" I tried just typed my name in a cursive font. A font isn't a signature: you can't actually write it with a pen. So I built Calligra Signature (calligra.me, also on iOS and Android): You type your name and, if you like, sign your current signature with your finger. It gets a score out of 100 (legibility, uniqueness, elegance, balance, speed). You pick one of 70+ star styles, each previewed with your own name. The AI draws your signature in that style. Then it teaches it to you in at most 8 steps, with an animation and a practice pad that scores each try. The image is my own before/after card from the app: my old signature on top, the new one below. A few things I learned so far: Getting an image model to spell a name correctly, letter by letter, was by far the hardest part. A lot of drawings get checked and thrown away before you see one. My English TikTok and Instagram posts barely moved. A few Hungarian carousels about real situations (a bank rejecting someone's signature, a new ID card) brought a couple of hundred sign-ups in a few days. Almost nobody comes back the next day. It's a one-time-use app by nature, which changes how you think about marketing. It works in 21 languages and also with non-Latin names (Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic, Japanese, Chinese, Korean and more). To be upfront about pricing: your first signature is included when you sign up, and more styles come in one-time packs. No subscription. I'd love honest feedback: does the idea make sense to you, and what would stop you from trying it? submitted by /u/Viktoria-777 [link] [comments]
