Hi, For the past months I've been building TellCAD, a CAD tool that runs in the browser. You describe a part, and an AI assistant writes it as readable code. Key dimensions end up on sliders, so changing a wall thickness is a slider move, not a redraw. It exports STEP and STL, makes technical drawings, and unfolds sheet metal. The part that surprised me most: getting AI to write geometry is the easy half. The hard half is that it has to check its own work, because a fillet that fails or a hole in the wrong place isn't obvious from the code. So the assistant builds the model, looks at screenshots, measures, and fixes its own mistakes. Lately I added assemblies with joints, motion and collision checks, which was far harder than expected. Keeping a linkage from flipping into its crossed position took a lot of work. It's in beta and I activate accounts by hand for now. The docs and a couple of calculators are open without an account. I'd love feedback, especially on where it falls apart. tellcad.com submitted by /u/whatisn3xt [link] [comments]
