Best way to learn professional 3D modeling processes?

Wait 5 sec.

What is the best way to learn 3D modeling (for game assets), not as a beginner but for more amateur/advanced pipelines? (For context, I want to get better & learn more about environment art) I’m sure so much is reliant on self-teaching, trial and error, and practice — but what do you do when you feel like you’ve reached a plateau where you aren’t able to find answers to very specific questions? Learning from youtube videos has been great, but I feel like lately I’ve run into roadblocks that aren’t easily answered through google/reddit searches or tutorials. I feel like I haven’t been able to learn much from scraping together information myself on “professional” processes (such as modular building, geometry nodes for environment building, etc) since there’s no “correct” answer or process. Trying to learn “good” optimization numbers for tris/faces, how in-game shaders work, LOD switching, is extremely confusing when I don’t understand what exactly to search for, or even if games release that kind of information publicly. TLDR: Want to get better at 3D modeling for games and reached a point where the internet doesn’t answer my questions to the level of detail I need. Where do I go from here? submitted by /u/chaoticavocado_jpg [link] [comments]
