We continue our Eurovision 2026 journey by drifting along (in a paper boat?) to the second semifinal! After tonight, we'll know the full line-up for Saturday's Grand Final. WATCH LIVE ON YOUTUBE 📺 If the official YouTube stream is geoblocked for you, we recommend trying one of the national broadcaster's streams. SVT Play, in particular, seems to work quite well for many of our members not located in Europe, so try them if you get an error message from YouTube. At the time of writing, the official YouTube livestream is blocked in the following 5 countries: Australia, Greece, Lithuania, Luxembourg, and the UK. Running order for tonight # COUNTRY ARTIST SONG 1 Bulgaria DARA "Bangaranga" 2 Azerbaijan JIVA "Just Go" 3 Romania Alexandra Căpitănescu "Choke Me" 4 Luxembourg Eva Marija "Mother Nature" 5 Czechia Daniel Zizka "CROSSROADS" AQ France Monroe "Regarde !" Depending on which stream you're watching and the policies of the relevant broadcaster, you will either see ads or some greenroom interviews/general filler antics during the ad breaks. Opening Act After a reminder of Tuesday's Semifinal 1 results (as if we had forgotten), we are... treated?... to hosts Victoria Swarovski and Michael Ostrowski performing JJ's "Wasted Love", last year's winning song. Or, well, trying to perform. The attempt does not go well and much chaos ensues, ending in a shipwreck (viewer discretion is advised, Latvia 2008 fans). Luckily, both hosts are unscathed beyond their pride, and we row merrily along into the competing entries. Ad Break Entertainment For those of us watching on streams/broadcasters without ads, we are... treated?... to additional segments of content. Normally, this would be green room interviews and antics, but this year, our Austrian hosts have opted for something a bit different. The first ad break of the night will see the second part of the pre-recorded Professor Eurovision video series, this time with Prof. Swarovski walking us through the contest's LGBTQ+ history, including Austria's very own Conchita Wurst from 2014. We won't get any university credits for completing this class, but it's always interesting to study Eurovision's past all the same. For the second ad break, we'll get to see a montage of this year's artists seeing the stage for the very first time in person. To match the euphoria on their faces, it will be underscored by Loreen's "Euphoria" sans vocals, a song that has been showing up up up up up up up in some form or another every year since it won 14 years ago. You could stay it has stuck like a tattoo (oo-oo)! Anyway, bop along and enjoy this year's appearance before we carefully pack it away in a cardboard box to be brought out again next year. 👋 See you soon, song friend! Interval Acts After all the acts have performed, Michael takes inspiration from his Semifinal 1 wardrobe for a performance of his own, singing "I'm So Excited" by The Pointer Sisters. Before we can wonder too much about what the song choice has to do with Austria or Eurovision, precisely, all cynicism and doubt will be washed away in a technicolour barrage as the stage transforms into an '80s disco dancing spectacular. Seeing how much fun everyone is having and not wanting to be left out, Victoria joins in the party by helping sing the final chorus. It's a nice redemption arc from their opening act performance, containing 100% less shipwrecks. The dancing doesn't end just because the disco died, though, and we transition smoothly to our hosts teaching us how to do the Viennese waltz. Encouraging the audience, contestants in the green room, and we viewers to follow along, they step in time to "Merci, Chérie" by Udo Jürgens, Austria's first winner ever from the 1966 edition of the contest. Just as we part ways with our waltzing partner at the end of the song, so too do we part ways with each other for the third (and final) ad break of the night. Some of us watching will watch some ads, while others will instead watch another edition of the Eurovision Quiz with Michael as trivia master to some commentators. Feel free to play along at home! And here's to hoping they don't accidentally swap the last two digits of a year again. Last but not least, we are all reunited (by music) as JJ makes an appearance to promote his debut EP, releasing today! He will be dropping his new single, "Unknown", live. To be clear, we do know the title of the new single. It's not unknown. Or, well, it is "Unknown", it's just not unknown, you know? Sorry, that was confusing. Let me try again. We know it's "Unknown", so "Unknown" is not unknown, but rather known to be "Unknown". Was that any better? No? Hmm, maybe I should take a page out of Iru's book and just say thing is "Unknown". Or maybe I'll just let JJ explain it. Official Eurovision Channels You can follow what's going on outside of our Reddit community by checking out Eurovision's official social channels below. Instagram | TikTok | YouTube | Bluesky | Facebook | Eurovision.com Voting If you are watching your local broadcaster (and your country is performing in this semi), instructions will be provided on screen for how you can cast votes. Remember that you cannot vote for your own country! If you are not watching your local broadcaster's stream, you can access detailed voting information on Eurovision's dedicated voting website. Even countries that are not participating in Eurovision this year are able to vote. Find out more about this Rest of the World (RotW) voting process at the link in the previous paragraph. 🔊 Moderation This is our busiest week of the year, so we are currently implementing some changes to our moderation standards. These are not rule changes, but they focus discussion into fewer posts to ensure us mods are able to keep an eye on things more easily, plus enjoy the shows ourselves. Please be patient with us, but most importantly have fun and be nice to others. 🛫 In Vienna? FAQ: Where is the live chat? If you're used to other social media platforms, it might take some getting used to that Reddit doesn't really have a live chat function at present. If this is something you're struggling with, we recommend using https://reddit-stream.com/ to auto-refresh the thread and make it a bit more like the live chat experience on other platforms. submitted by /u/LucasScooter to r/eurovision [link] [comments]
