Q had a simple design philosophy with its new Tall Boy silencer: if maximum suppression is the goal, don't stop halfway. The Tall Boy is a .30 caliber suppressor built around subsonic .300 Blackout performance. Q says the extended internal architecture is engineered to slow, cool, and manage gas as efficiently as possible, with an added internal volume and refined baffle geometry working together to maximize dwell time and reduce exit pressure. The result, according to the company, is a suppressor capable of delivering what they describe as a movie-quiet shooting experience. Are we finally getting Hollywood-quiet? Construction is all steel throughout, finished in black nitride for durability and heat resistance. Q rates the Tall Boy for full-auto use with no barrel length restrictions. The suppressor ships with Q's REAREND mount and is compatible with the Cherry Bomb muzzle device as well, giving shooters a fast-attach option that works with a broad range of host configurations. While the design emphasis is clearly on subsonic .300 BLK, Q notes the Tall Boy maintains capability across a wide cartridge spectrum, from subsonic loads up through .300 Win Mag, making it a single-can option for shooters running multiple platforms.I’m not sure which Q silencer that was on the Honey Badger I tried at Range Day at SHOT Show earlier this year, but it sure was quiet too, even on full auto. The Tall Boy is available now through Q dealers nationwide at an MSRP of $950.
