Stood in the thick rough, the current world number 70 hacked the ball and just how close he came to hitting surrounding spectators was caught in a POV video that was quickly posted to social media. This incident quickly struck up what has been an ongoing debate pertaining to spectator safety at professional golf tournaments.“Only a dumb a** would stand in front of someone hitting a ball out of that shit. I feel no sympathy for them,” one fan posted on X (formerly Twitter). “Only a matter of time.. these people get a foot away from these guys rippin shots hardcore,” a second added. “Why anyone feels the need to stand there, esp coming out of thick rough, blows my mind. Thats a death wish,” a third chimed in. Some fans blamed Clark for not instructing the fans to move out of the path of the flight of the ball. “Are you kidding me??? It’s up to him to move the crowd if they seem to be in his line or could interfere with his shot. Obviously not what he intended to do but that cannot be blamed on the fans,” one said. “Not his fault” is insane… you’ve gotta take some degree of responsibility for not asking folks to back up further because you might crack someone in the face,” a second wrote. “No it’s his fault. He could try hitting his ball like a touring professional,” a third wrote.
