Partit Momentum has unveiled its 269-point manifesto ahead of the General Election, with proposals ranging from cheaper public transport to anti-corruption reforms and restrictions on children’s social media access.Among the standout pledges is a €234 million annual investment in public transport subsidies, with youths aged 15 to 24 and adults over 65 able to use buses for a flat €2 fee.The party also wants commuters to be able to check real-time bus occupancy through mobile apps and is proposing a €20 million expansion of Malta’s bus lane network to reduce delays caused by traffic.Momentum is also backing restrictions on social media access for children under 16, aligning itself with recent positions taken by the European Parliament.Other proposals include tax incentives for young farmers, expanding the teaching of Maltese history beyond the Second World War and introducing tax credits for people attending democratic education courses. On governance, the party is proposing automatic disqualification from public office for anyone convicted of corruption, alongside criminal penalties for granting or requesting political favours.Momentum also wants to negotiate supermarket prices on essential everyday goods to help reduce the impact of rising grocery bills on workers’ wages. The manifesto additionally calls for MPs to work full-time in politics, with stricter rules on outside work and conflicts of interest.“MPs should work full-time for the people and the country, not juggle multiple jobs and interests,” the party said. The full manifesto is available on Partit Momentum’s website.•
