New Galaxy A55 update brings May 2026 security patch

Last week, Samsung announced the May 2026 security patch for Galaxy smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches, revealing that it addresses 36 security issues. The brand offered it first to its latest flagship non-foldable smartphone lineup, the Galaxy S26 series, and now, the company is rolling it out to the Galaxy A55, making it the second device to get the latest security update.From what we could gather, Samsung is currently offering the May 2026 security patch for the Galaxy A55 in Europe. The update that brings it carries firmware version A556BXXSECZDE (via Galaxy Club). That being said, the brand may have released it in other regions as well. To check its availability in your country, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install.Last month, Samsung opened the One UI 8.5 (Android 16 QPR2) beta program for the Galaxy A55. It allows the phone's users to experience the new software, which brings a redesigned user interface and new features, before the brand releases its stable version. So far, the brand has released two beta versions and is expected to end the beta program soon and release its stable version in the next few weeks.
