As we get ready for event season in early June, Sony seems to have already started preparing some big announcements. Going by a recent trademark filing, it appears Sony is working on a title called BREAK IN, though what it is about is anyone’s guess. The trademark was filed yesterday, May 20, and is almost certainly the title (at least a work-in-progress one) of a new game, since the trademark falls under category IC 009, which describes “Recorded video game software; Downloadable video game software; Recorded computer game software; Downloadable computer game software,” and so on. I’d much rather Sony filled us in on what’s happening with its trademark singleplayer games. Image via Sony My first thought would be that this is some sort of stealth game where you have to break into places and perhaps steal valuable items, or perhaps organize a crew to break into a prison to break out someone inside. There are a lot of things that can cross your mind whenever you read that title, though, as I said above, we won’t really know before Sony announces it in its June 2 State of Play (if it even appears there). Over on Reddit, folks are guessing this is some kind of heist-focused extraction shooter or perhaps something new that is tied to Sony’s already-confirmed Fairgames. “A new PvP extraction shooter where you break into a bank, steal the cash, and extract! Coming to PS5 this year for $59.99! …probably,” one user wrote. Sony’s been focusing heavily on live-service games despite failing to create a splash with them and losing an ungodly amount of money after Concord and some other unsuccessful GaaS releases. Therefore, it’s completely reasonable to assume this could be something in that vein as well, especially considering the name BREAK IN doesn’t have too many genres to fall into (and as we saw with Relooted, the single-player type of this game doesn’t fare so well, either). But I guess we may know for certain come June 2.0The post Sony’s new trademark gives clues about upcoming game ahead of next State of Play appeared first on Destructoid.
