Saturday, Curragh, post time: 15:40, TATTERSALLS IRISH 2,000 GUINEAS-G1, €290,000, 3yo, c/f, 8fTField: Alparslan (Ire) (Dandy Man {Ire}), Bamako Beach (Ire) (Sands Of Mali {Fr}), Distant Storm (GB) (Night Of Thunder {Ire}), Go Just Do It (GB) (Kingman {GB}), Gstaad (GB) (Starspangledbanner {Aus}), Neolithic (Ire) (Sioux Nation), Pacific Avenue (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}), Power Blue (Ire) (Space Blues {Ire}), Take Charge Star (Ire) (Starspangledbanner {Aus}), Thesecretadversary (Ire) (St Mark's Basilica {Fr}).TDN Analysis: Take out Bow Echo and we'd be talking about one of the most impressive 2,000 Guineas winners in history in Gstaad, so far was he clear of the remainder in a time that eclipsed that of most recent winners of the Newmarket Classic. This is his for the taking if in the same form and the vibes from Ballydoyle suggest he has even improved for the experience as is the case of most of the yard's horses. Distant Storm was soundly beaten there and has eight lengths to make up, which seems insurmountable unless something goes amiss with the favourite. There is a case to be made for greater improvement from Thesecretadversary, who pulled too hard when fifth three weeks ago and has the one draw to get cover early. Alparslan likes to try and dominate and with the pace-setting Neolithic and Pacific Avenue in here the pace is sure to be frantic. [Tom Frary].Saturday, Haydock, post time: 15:30, THE WILLIAM HILL TEMPLE STAKES-G2, £165,000, 3yo/up, 5fTField: Khaadem (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}), Asfoora (Aus) (Flying Artie {Aus}), American Affair (GB) (Washington DC {Ire}), Getreadytorumble (GB) (Rumble Inthejungle {Ire}), Jakajaro (Ire) (Too Darn Hot {GB}), Jm Jungle (Ire) (Bungle Inthejungle {GB}), Night Raider (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}), Shagraan (Ire) (Sioux Nation), Beautiful Diamond (GB) (Twilight Son {GB}), First Instinct (GB) (Bated Breath {GB}), Frost At Dawn (Frosted), Mgheera (GB) (Zoustar {Aus}), Argentine Tango (GB) (Mattmu {GB}).TDN Analysis: Given how well Clive Cox's sprinters have started the campaign, the yard's re-acquired Shagraan has to be respected having chased home the Palace House winner Night Raider on his seasonal bow. That rival has to do show he can dominate again on a much slower surface and he is an open book with his running style, but his gelding op seems to have worked the oracle. Asfoora was well-beaten in that Newmarket contest, but as she showed when fourth in this two years ago always needs that Euro introduction and will handle the ground having mastered ParisLongchamp's testing going on Arc day. [Tom Frary].Saturday, Haydock, post time: 14:58, THE WILLIAM HILL SANDY LANE STAKES-G2, £165,000, 3yo, 6fTField: Aqpan (Ire) (Blue Point {Ire}), Brussels (GB) (Wootton Bassett {GB}), Coppull (GB) (Bated Breath {GB}), Division (GB) (Kingman {GB}), Five Ways (GB) (Kameko), Rock On Thunder (Ire) (Night Of Thunder {Ire}), Spicy Marg (GB) (Starspangledbanner {Aus}), Venetian Sun (Ire) (Starman {GB}).TDN Analysis: Following the eclipse of Ballydoyle's big two for the Commonwealth Cup in recent days, the picture for that Royal Ascot sprint has become cloudier. Division is one who has already put his hand up for that with his big performance in the Pavilion last month, where he did everything wrong bar his eye-catching finishing effort behind Coppull and with a clean break here is probably the key player. That is a potentially foolish statement given that last year's Prix Morny heroine Venetian Sun is in attendance, but while she reverts to the trip over which she shone in 2025 there are questions to answer after a tame display in the 1,000 Guineas. [Tom Frary].Saturday, Curragh, post time: 15:05, WEATHERBYS IRELAND GREENLANDS STAKES-G2, €78,000, 4yo/up, 6fTField: Powerful Glory (Ire) (Cotai Glory {GB}), Big Gossey (Ire) (Gutaifan {Ire}), Bucanero Fuerte (GB) (Wootton Bassett {GB}), Chicago Critic (GB) (Night Of Thunder {Ire}), Comanche Brave (Ire) (Wootton Bassett {GB}), James's Delight (Ire) (Invincible Army {Ire}), Marvelman (Ire) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}), Montassib (GB) (Exceed And Excel {Aus}), Spycatcher (Ire) (Vadamos {Fr}), Valiant Force (Malibu Moon), Fregada (Ire) (Kodiac {GB}).TDN Analysis: There was more than one head-scratching moment on Champions Day, but the 200-1 win of Powerful Glory in the British Champions Sprint Stakes was not as far-fetched beforehand as his odds suggested. Coming back with a penalty makes him vulnerable, especially with the likes of track specialists Big Gossey and Bucanero Fuerte lining up and there is also a real lurker to contend with here in Comanche Brave. He was having only his third career start at six furlongs last time when fifth in the Chairman's Sprint Prize and managed to get within six lengths of Ka Ying Rising, which is some feat. [Tom Frary].Saturday, York, post time: 15:15, THE WILLIAM HILL BRONTE CUP FILLIES' STAKES-G3, £100,000, 4yo/up, f/m, 13f 188yTField: Danielle (GB) (Cracksman {GB}), Desert Spring (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}), Lava Stream (Ire) (Too Darn Hot {GB}), Miss Alpilles (GB) (Sea The Stars {Ire}), Miss Wong (GB) (Study of Man {Ire}), Rock N Roll Pinkie (GB) (Sun Central {Ire}), Tamam Desert (Ire) (Sea The Moon {Ger}).TDN Analysis: Danielle will be a warm order, despite not having the slow ground on which she thrives as she showed when the nine-length winner of Doncaster's Listed Gillies Fillies' Stakes in November. She has a clear form advantage over Miss Alpilles, but that Listed Rose Bowl Stakes winner had some smart stayers behind when third in the Sagaro and could still be improving, while the 2024 Ribblesdale Stakes runner-up Lava Stream is an unknown quantity making her way back from injury. [Tom Frary].Saturday, Curragh, post time: 16:15, HEIDER FAMILY STABLES GALLINULE STAKES-G3, €42,000, 3yo, 10fTField: Amadeus Mozart (Ire) (Wootton Bassett {GB}), Causeway (Ire) (Wootton Bassett {GB}), Mr Vettori (Ire) (Lope De Vega {Ire}), Shaihaan (Ire) (Night Of Thunder {Ire}), Shosholoza (Ire) (Australia {GB}), South Island (Ire) (Wootton Bassett {GB}), Zia Zabel (Ire) (Ghaiyyath {Ire}), Alphecca (Ire) (Sioux Nation), Drop Dead Gorgeous (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}).TDN Analysis: A fascinating renewal of this late Derby trial which is really more of a pointer to the King Edward VII and Irish Derby. Ryan Moore has sided with the colt Causeway over the similarly-unexposed filly Drop Dead Gorgeous and he diverges from the “Paddington” route going up in trip after his Madrid and Tetrarch wins. Drop Dead Gorgeous shaped as if this trip would suit while third in the Athasi, which is no surprise given her pedigree and she has a profile much like her Prix de Diane-winning half-sister Joan Of Arc at present. Like most of the Classic trials staged in Ireland this year, this is dominated by O'Brien Sr and the O'Brien Jrs and Ballydoyle have a smart third-string in Amadeus Mozart, while Donnacha's Shaihaan provides a pre-Epsom insight into the worth of the Leopardstown Derby Trial in which he was fourth. [Tom Frary].Saturday, Goodwood, post time: 14:00, THE BRITISH STALLION STUDS EBF COCKED HAT STAKES-Listed, £70,000, 3yo, c/g, 11f 44yTField: Command The Stars (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}), Saxon Street (Ire) (Saxon Warrior {Jpn}), Del Maro (Ger) (Camelot {GB}), Golden Story (Ire) (Lope De Vega {Ire}), Oratorical (GB) (Lope Y Fernandez {Ire}).TDN Analysis: The old “Predominate” sees Saxon Street bid to add to his Blue Riband Trial success last month as he tackles the Dee Stakes third Golden Story. That colt provides a marker to the most exciting three-year-old in training outside of Bow Echo, with Constitution River disappearing out of sight with every stride on the Roodee. Interestingly, Del Maro was beaten nearly as far by Ballydoyle's other leading Derby hope Benvenuto Cellini in the Chester Vase so this should provide a clue or two. [Tom Frary].Saturday, Goodwood, post time: 15:10, THE FITZDARES HEIGHT OF FASHION STAKES-Listed, £70,000, 3yo, f, 9f 197yTField: Just Call Me Angel (GB) (Dark Angel {Ire}), Brilliant Star (GB) (Cracksman {GB}), Classic Cuvee (GB) (Siyouni {Fr}), Della Pace (GB) (Camelot {GB}), Earth Shot (Ire) (Time Test {GB}), Inis Mor (Fr) (Galiway {GB}), On Message (GB) (Camelot {GB}), Winged One (Ire) (Australia {GB}).TDN Analysis: Earth Shot and Brilliant Star are the most intriguing members of the cast for this strong line-up for the old “Lupe” that always had the potential to throw up an Oaks heroine. Both have been impressive in weak contests and they will need to show they can hold their own against the established yardsticks Inis Mor and Just Call Me Angel, both of whom move up in trip with the latter having captured the Premio Regina Elena or Italian 1,000 Guineas. [Tom Frary].Saturday, Bordeaux-Le Bouscat, France, post time: 12:31, 170TH DERBY DU MIDI-Listed, €50,300, 3yo, 9 1/2fTField: Plutarque (Fr) (Victor Ludorum {GB}), Artilleur (Fr) (Siyouni {Fr}), Regal Resolve (GB) (Kingman {GB}), Texas Wood (Fr) (Wooded {Ire}), Mature (Fr) (Zarak {Fr}), Pink Panthera (Fr) (Chachnak {Fr}), Yaggera (Fr) (Iffraaj {GB}).TDN Analysis: Juddmonte's 2025 Listed Prix Isonomy victor Regal Resolve will be a warm order coming back off a runner-up finish in this month's G3 Prix Greffulhe at Saint-Cloud and encounters Listed Prix de la Seine third Pink Panthera, who is the only other entry boasting black type. Mature defeated Plutarque, Artilleur and Texas Wood in a course-and-distance conditions heat last month and all four, along with Yaggera, make their stakes debuts here.
