Hollywood Studios fans walked into the park today expecting a fun mix of previews, soft openings, and new entertainment offerings. Instead, many guests quickly found themselves dealing with packed walkways, swelling crowds, and attraction wait times climbing higher by the hour. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is currently juggling three major new experiences at the same time, and the combination is already putting serious pressure on the park. What makes the situation even more interesting is that not all of these experiences are fully open yet. Some are still technically in preview mode, while others are only partially available. Still, that has not stopped massive crowds from flooding into the park to see what is new. By late morning, several attractions were already reporting heavy wait times, and things may only get worse as the afternoon continues.Walt Disney Studios Courtyard Finally Opens to GuestsOne of the biggest visual changes now available inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios is the reopening of the newly reimagined Walt Disney Studios courtyard area. For longtime visitors, the space feels dramatically different compared to the older version of Animation Courtyard that guests knew for years.Although some experiences in the area are still not operating, Disney has officially opened the courtyard, allowing guests to walk through the refreshed land and explore the updated atmosphere. Construction walls have finally disappeared, giving fans their first real look at Disney’s transformation of this corner of the park.At the moment, Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! is not entertaining guests, and the Drawn to Wonderland playground remains unavailable. Even so, guests have been eager to wander through the new courtyard space, take photos, and check out the updated design elements Disney has added throughout the area. That curiosity alone appears to be drawing extra traffic deeper into Hollywood Studios today. Guests who may normally spend most of their time in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge or Toy Story Land are now spreading throughout the park to explore the new offering. And that is only one piece of today’s crowd surge.Credit: DisneyRock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets Begins PreviewsToday also marked the official beginning of previews for Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets. Disney fans have waited months to experience the reimagined attraction, and demand exploded almost immediately after previews began. The attraction officially opens to all guests on May 26, 2026, but previews are running now through May 23. Unsurprisingly, fans rushed to secure preview access as soon as Disney made reservations available. The updated version of the coaster keeps the same high-speed launch system and intense ride layout guests already know, but the story now fully embraces The Muppets. Instead of Aerosmith leading riders to a concert, guests now find themselves wrapped up in complete Muppet-style chaos. The Electric Mayhem takes center stage throughout the attraction, and the ride leans heavily into the unpredictable humor the franchise is known for. From backstage mishaps to over-the-top moments during the pre-show, Disney clearly wanted the coaster to feel more playful and energetic while still preserving the thrill ride itself.Early reactions from preview guests have been extremely positive so far, especially from fans eager to see The Muppets return with a major presence in Hollywood Studios. But that excitement is also creating massive demand.Credit: DisneySmugglers Run Adds Mandalorian and Grogu MissionsAs if Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster previews were not enough, Disney also started previews today for the updated version of Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.The attraction’s new Mandalorian and Grogu mission officially launches for all guests tomorrow, May 22, the same day The Mandalorian & Grogu (2026) arrives in theaters. However, preview opportunities already began today, bringing even more guests rushing into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.Disney expanded the experience far beyond a simple overlay. Guests can now experience three different mission options inspired by Din Djarin and Grogu, giving the attraction far more replay value than before.Disney also upgraded the engineering role, which has long been criticized as the least exciting position aboard the Millennium Falcon. The changes reportedly make engineers much more involved throughout the mission experience, rather than simply reacting to alerts on a control panel. The update is clearly driving major interest throughout the park. Guests flooded Galaxy’s Edge early this morning, and the attraction’s posted wait time skyrocketed quickly.Credit: DisneyWait Times Are Already Getting Out of ControlThe biggest sign of today’s chaos may be how quickly attraction times surged across the park.Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster preview reservations filled up extremely fast, with many guests unable to secure access shortly after distribution opened. That alone created a major conversation throughout the park, with guests constantly checking their phones, hoping additional availability would appear.Meanwhile, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run had already reached a posted wait of 125 minutes, and the park was not even halfway through the operating day yet. That number alone shows how much demand Disney is facing right now.The problem is that crowd pressure is not staying isolated to just one attraction. As guests spread throughout Hollywood Studios in search of shorter waits, nearby rides have also started seeing major increases.Credit: Inside the MagicThe Entire Park Is Feeling the PressureSlinky Dog Dash has spent much of the day sitting above the one-hour mark as families continue pouring into Toy Story Land. That attraction already struggles with heavy waits on normal days, so today’s added traffic has only made things worse.Several other attractions around Hollywood Studios have also hovered between 40 and 50 minutes for large portions of the day. Even rides that normally absorb crowds fairly well are beginning to feel more congested than usual.Interestingly, a few experiences have not been completely overwhelming. Star Tours has remained relatively manageable compared to Galaxy’s Edge attractions, and some character meet-and-greets have stayed near the 20-minute range.Still, those lower waits may not last much longer if guests continue looking for alternatives to the park’s overloaded headliners.Credit: DisneyCrowds May Only Get Worse This AfternoonUnfortunately for guests currently inside Hollywood Studios, there is little indication that things will calm down anytime soon.As the park moves beyond lunchtime and deeper into the afternoon, crowd levels often intensify rather than shrink. Adding even more pressure, Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster previews are scheduled to resume again later today with another preview distribution window at 3 p.m.That means another wave of guests will likely flood Sunset Boulevard later this afternoon, hoping to experience the reimagined coaster before its official opening next week.Because of that, attractions like Smugglers Run, Rise of the Resistance, and Slinky Dog Dash will likely continue soaring well past the one-hour mark throughout the evening. For Disney, today represents both a huge success and a major operational challenge. Guests are clearly excited about these new offerings. Still, Hollywood Studios is once again showing how quickly the park can become overwhelmed when several major experiences launch at once. And with full public openings still ahead, today may only be the beginning. The post 2-Hour Wait Times: Hollywood Studios Suffers Under Crushing Weight of New Attractions appeared first on Inside the Magic.
