Disney World vacations already require a huge amount of planning. Families spend months organizing hotel stays, dining reservations, Lightning Lane selections, and park strategies just to make the most of their trip. That planning has become even more important as Disney has slowly reduced or replaced several fan-favorite perks over the years. Many longtime guests still miss benefits like free FastPasses, Magical Express airport transportation, complimentary MagicBands, and Extra Magic Hours for all resort guests. While Disney still offers exclusive perks for hotel visitors, many fans feel the benefits are not quite what they once were. Now, one of the biggest advantages for Disney Resort guests visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios is becoming far less reliable — and many guests are growing frustrated because of it.Credit: Patrick McGarvey, FlickrDisney Resort Guests Still Get Exclusive BenefitsDisney Resort hotel guests still receive several perks that enhance the vacation experience. One major offering during summer 2026 is free water park admission on check-in day. From May 26 to September 8, 2026, Disney Resort guests can visit a Disney water park at no extra cost on the day they arrive.Guests also receive Early Entry at all four theme parks, allowing them to enter parks 30 minutes before regular opening each morning. Experienced Disney visitors know those extra minutes can make a huge difference for major attractions.Transportation remains another advantage. Disney guests can use buses, Friendship Boats, monorails, and the Skyliner to travel around the property without relying entirely on their cars. For guests staying at Skyliner resorts near Hollywood Studios, that quick transportation access can become a huge benefit during busy mornings.Disney Resort guests also get earlier booking windows for dining reservations and Lightning Lane selections, giving them an edge over off-property visitors.Still, one particular Hollywood Studios strategy has become one of the biggest reasons guests value Early Entry.Credit: DisneyRise of the Resistance Became the Ultimate Rope Drop RideFor many visitors, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is the main attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The ride combines multiple ride systems, giant practical sets, trackless vehicles, and live interactions to create one of Disney’s most ambitious attractions ever built. Because of that, it regularly posts some of the longest wait times at Walt Disney World. That is why so many Disney Resort guests use Early Entry specifically for Rise of the Resistance.Guests staying at nearby Skyliner resorts often arrive before sunrise and head straight toward Galaxy’s Edge once Early Entry begins. When everything works properly, they can ride before standby waits explode later in the day.Unfortunately, the strategy has become increasingly unreliable.Credit: Jeremy Thompson, FlickrConstant Downtime Is Ruining the PerkRise of the Resistance continues dealing with frequent downtime and delayed openings. There have even been reports of mornings when the attraction failed to open at all during Early Entry. For guests who built their entire morning around riding early, that can feel like a complete waste of the perk. The problem also impacts the rest of Hollywood Studios. When Rise of the Resistance stays closed, huge crowds suddenly rush toward other attractions like Slinky Dog Dash, Tower of Terror, and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.Even guests who intentionally avoided Rise of the Resistance feel the effects. Some visitors purposely use Early Entry to enjoy lower waits elsewhere while the largest crowds head to Galaxy’s Edge. But when Rise of the Resistance is closed, those crowds spill into every other major attraction instead. That chain reaction is why frustration continues growing among Disney fans. Guests who carefully planned their mornings suddenly find themselves competing with far larger crowds than expected, even on attractions that usually stay manageable during Early Entry.Credit: Becky Burkett, Inside the MagicWhat Guests Can Do InsteadIf Rise of the Resistance is down during Early Entry, there are still a few strategies worth trying. Many guests recommend riding during lunch or dinner hours when crowds temporarily shift toward restaurants. Others prefer saving the attraction for the very end of the night since guests can enter the queue right before park closing.Of course, that approach carries risk. If the ride goes down again late at night, you could miss it entirely.Guests can also purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass to reduce wait times. However, repeated downtime can still lead to long waits even in the Lightning Lane queue, as many guests receive overlapping return windows.Credit: DisneyThe Problem Is Bigger Than One RideRise of the Resistance is still one of the best attractions Disney has ever created, which is exactly why the reliability problems feel so frustrating for guests.Disney Resort visitors continue to pay a premium price, partly because of benefits like Early Entry. But when one of the biggest Early Entry strategies suddenly becomes unreliable, it can completely change how guests approach their day at Hollywood Studios. The perk technically still exists. For many guests, though, it no longer feels nearly as dependable as it once did.The post Disney World Guests Fuming as Major Attraction Reliability Issues Ruin Exclusive Hollywood Studios Perk appeared first on Inside the Magic.
