Daniel Dubois is set to return to the ring before the year is out.‘Triple D’ silenced his detractors last weekend by snatching the WBO heavyweight title from Fabio Wardley in a barn-burning bout at Manchester’s Co-Op Live Arena.Dubois stopped Wardley in a gruelling contest over the weekend in ManchesterPADubois picked himself up off the canvas twice in the opening three rounds to come back and stop his compatriot in the 11th stanza. After such a gruelling encounter, Dubois will need time to properly rest and recuperate. However, Warren anticipates that his client will be back in action this Autumn (September 1 to November 30).“As for Daniel’s next fight, a fight in the autumn,” Warren told DAZN.“Autumn finishes in November. So we’ll see what happens. He needs a rest.”Who is Daniel Dubois likely to face next?Wardley has the right to activate a rematch clause written into both men’s contracts.Usually, such clauses have a 30-day window for the loser to decide whether to run it back.If Wardley chooses to pass up on a second fight, then the WBO will look to order a clash with the major sanctioning body’s No.1 contender, Moses Itauma. The precocious 21-year-old is booked in for an August 8 headliner at London’s O2 Arena. His opponent is yet to be announced, although Filip Hrgovic is said to be the frontrunner, providing he gets past Dave Allen unscathed on Saturday.Dubois is expected to make the first defence of his WBO heavyweight title before the end of NovemberGettyIf Queensberry were to make Itauma-Dubois in late November then it would be a three-and-a half-month turnaround for the Chatham southpaw. However, Dubois’ trainer, Don Charles, anticipates that Queensberry will keep him and Itauma apart for another 18 months.“He is a young fighter, he is the future,” Charles said during a recent apperance on talkSPORT’s talkBOXING podcast. “Frank Warren, we trust, I think he will keep them apart for now.“Let them fight in a unification, Moses could go away and become a world champion.“They could do it in 18 months; they are both signed to Frank. Track them.“And provided we defend our title and maybe pick up another, make it a unification.”The Knockout Weekend Bundle on DAZN*If you click on a link in this boxout we will earn affiliate revenueGet ready for an action-packed weekend of world-class boxing with DAZN’s Knockout Weekend Bundle, featuring two unmissable nights of fights exclusively available on DAZN.Purchase the Big Fight Bundle: Head to the DAZN website to buy Ryan Garcia vs. Rolly Romero on 2nd May or Canelo Alvarez vs. William Scull on 3rd May.Enjoy the Bundle Discount: Access to each fight-night will cost you £21.99 individually, but just £34.99 when ordered as a bundle.Choose Your Bonus: With your PPV purchase, enjoy a 7-day free trial of DAZN with no strings attached, or get one month free when you sign up for an annual plan.Watch World-Class Boxing: Gain access to these epic showdowns plus DAZN’s extensive library of fights, featuring the biggest names in boxing.Don’t miss Ryan Garcia’s comeback, Canelo’s title unification, and all the undercard action – watch it all live, only on DAZN!
