The race for Tottenham academy graduate Troy Parrott is getting hotter by the day as the summer transfer window approaches.AZ Alkmaar paid £6.7m to Tottenham for Parrott in 2024, and that now looks like a huge bargain, as the striker has gone from strength to strength over the past two years.Since his move, the former Spurs striker has scored 51 goals and provided 16 assists in 94 appearances for the Dutch club, and his impressive numbers have not gone unnoticed in the Premier League.Over the last few weeks, it has emerged that Everton are exploring a deal to bring Parrott back to England as they look to reinforce their forward line this summer.Photo by Ed van de Pol/BSR Agency/Getty ImagesNewly promoted club looking to sign former Tottenham star Troy ParrottAC Milan and Borussia Dortmund have also been credited with an interest in the Spurs academy graduate, but it has now emerged that a newly promoted Premier League side has also entered the race.Former Tottenham scout, Mick Brown, who is well connected with industry sources, has claimed that Coventry City have set their sights on the Republic of Ireland international ahead of their return to the top-flight.Brown told Football Insider: “Coventry have been having a look at Parrott. “They would be willing to take the gamble on bringing him back to the Premier League, but that’s what it is at the moment, a gamble.“He’s shown over in the Netherlands that he can score goals and he’s done it for Ireland as well, but doing that in the Premier League is a different challenge. But Coventry have to be ambitious with their plans, and if they think they’d be able to lure him in, then it could be something they look to do.“They’re now competing with other Premier League clubs for these players, they want to back the manager and sometimes you have to take risks. If they’ve watched him and feel he could replicate his form in the Premier League, then it will be well worth the gamble in their position.”Spurs can sign Parrott on a discount this summerTottenham have a 20 per cent sell-on clause on Parrott, which means that the Lilywhites stand to gain financially if he moves elsewhere this summer. That clause also means that Spurs would get a significant discount on the centre-forward over other clubs if they decide to vie for him. Some sources have suggested that the striker would welcome a return to Tottenham this summer, but it is unclear if De Zerbi’s men are exploring a move for the 24-year-old.READ MORE: Luka Vuskovic drops ‘99.9 per cent’ hint on Tottenham future after scoring free-kickThe post Coventry prepare ‘gamble’ to beat Tottenham to striker with 51 goals in 94 games appeared first on Spurs Web.
