My Miss Mo Takes Down The Black-Eyed Susan

Wait 5 sec.

The Florida-bred MY MISS MO (f, 3, Uncle Mo–In A Dream, by Quality Road) sat a perfect stalking trip and put away a stubborn Jumping the Gun (Gun Runner) late to take down the GII George E. Mitchell Black-Eyed Susan Stakes at Laurel Park Friday. The 5-2 favorite, breaking from the far outside, had enough early speed to tuck down only a few paths off the fence on the short run into the first turn and was outrun only by 60-1 longshot Savor It (Vino Rosso) who paced the field up the backstretch through fractions of :24.14 and :49.10.Poised just off that rival's flank, she inherited the lead just past the quarter pole as Savor It called it a day but was instantly challenged to her outside by Jumping the Gun who refused to go away down the stretch. It was only in the final sixteenth that My Miss Mo began to gain the upper hand, checking in by two lengths under Tyler Gaffalione. A. P.'s Girl (Honor A. P.) filled out the trifecta in a final time of 1:52.24.
