Pedro Pascal has finally commented on his exit from a galaxy far, far away.Pascal has spent the past seven years at the center of modern Star Wars through Din Djarin, helping launch Disney+ with The Mandalorian in 2019 before expanding with two additional seasons and an appearance in The Book of Boba Fett. The series quickly became Lucasfilm’s biggest post-sequel trilogy success, with Grogu evolving into one of the franchise’s most marketable characters.Credit: LucasfilmThe actor’s next appearance comes in The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026), Lucasfilm’s first theatrical Star Wars release since The Rise of Skywalker. But with no future Disney+ seasons currently confirmed, some fans have started questioning what comes next for Din Djarin beyond the upcoming movie. That uncertainty has only grown as Lucasfilm remains quiet about the future of The Mandalorian after the film’s release. Showrunner and director Jon Favreau previously wrote a fourth season before the project reportedly shifted toward a theatrical feature instead, and rumors surrounding Dave Filoni’s larger crossover “Mandoverse” movie have continued circulating online. As a result, some viewers now fear that The Mandalorian and Grogu could mark Pascal’s final major appearance in the franchise.Credit: LucasfilmPascal recently addressed rumors surrounding his potential Star Wars exit during the press tour for The Mandalorian and Grogu, offering the clearest indication yet of whether Din Djarin’s story will continue beyond the upcoming film.Pedro Pascal Discusses His Future as Din DjarinAsked by Discussing Film about rumors surrounding a possible departure, Pascal addressed ongoing speculation over whether Din Djarin still has a future in the Star Wars franchise.“You know, age is a real thing,” he said. “Whatever my body can do, and however long people want to experience these stories with these characters, is how long I want it to last.”Pedro Pascal says he wants to continue playing The Mandalorian as long as he's alive & audiences still want to see the character.“Whatever my body can do and however long people want to experience these characters is how long I want it to last.” pic.twitter.com/RfpFgm1KY3— DiscussingFilm (@DiscussingFilm) May 15, 2026In other words, it seems like Din Djarin’s story isn’t over yet – despite what some fans feared when Lucasfilm released the tracklist for The Mandalorian and Grogu‘s soundtrack earlier this week. This aligns with other comments from Pascal in recent weeks.“It’s the longest creative relationship I’ve had, it’s the character that I’ve played the longest,” Pascal said of playing Din Djarin at a Q&A session (via Comic Book Movie). “Hopefully, I get to continue playing him for as long as my body, or as many bodies as we put into the suit, can take it.”Credit: LucasfilmNotably, Pascal’s co-star, Sigourney Weaver – who portrays New Republic officer Colonel Ward in The Mandalorian and Grogu – recently revealed that she believes a sequel is inevitable.“In an ideal world, I’d love to make another ‘Mandalorian and Grogu,’ because it was so much fun to work with Jon Favreau,” she said (via Geek Tyrant). “And I’m a huge admirer, and just to be in this world, for me, it was cool. And I really like my character, and I’d love to do more work with Pedro and his sidekick. So, I think that, secretly, we’re all hoping maybe this could produce another one that would take us further into the Outer Rim and more adventures.”When Will We See Din Djarin On Screens After ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’?Right now, the only other Star Wars movie actively moving toward theaters after The Mandalorian and Grogu is Star Wars: Starfighter, Shawn Levy’s standalone film starring Ryan Gosling. The project wrapped filming in December and is currently scheduled for release on May 28, 2027, marking Lucasfilm’s first major post-sequel trilogy theatrical story outside the Skywalker Saga itself.Lucasfilm is still developing Daisy Ridley’s untitled Rey movie, which was first announced at Star Wars Celebration 2023. The film is expected to follow Rey rebuilding the Jedi Order after The Rise of Skywalker, but has gone through multiple writers and remains without a release date. Director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is still attached, but updates have remained relatively limited compared to Starfighter (although fans think Lucasfilm has finally started making headway on the project).Credit: LucasfilmBeyond that, Lucasfilm still has several long-gestating projects at various stages of development, such as James Mangold’s film about the origins of the Jedi (although former Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy described it as being “on hold” earlier this year) and a separate trilogy being developed by Simon Kinberg. Other previously announced projects – including Donald Glover’s Lando Calrissian movie and Taika Waititi’s project – technically remain in development, although Kennedy admitted that they are only “still somewhat alive.”In other words, right now, there’s no clear path for Mando to return to the big screen – although that could easily change, depending on how well The Mandalorian and Grogu performs at the box office. The most recent projections estimate that it will gross more than $80 million domestically across its opening weekend, with the four-day Memorial Day frame potentially climbing past $95 million if family turnout and walk-up sales remain strong.Would you like to see more from The Mandalorian in Star Wars? The post Pedro Pascal Finally Addresses His ‘Star Wars’ Franchise Exit appeared first on Inside the Magic.
