By Mulengera ReportersTo their credit, the editorial team at NTV have had the opportunity to dance on the proverbial grave of one of their formidable adversaries and tormentors who is none other than outgoing Speaker Anita Among. Headed by Susan Nsibirwa, the entire Nation Media Group based at Serena Hotel, suffered extreme humiliation, exclusion and harassment when the Anita Among leadership at Parliament locked them out of Parliamentary reporting after their content was found to be too critical for comfort. They had their reporters chased away and the leadership at Namuwongo refused to back down and instead they carried on with their very critical reporting, which gradually weakened and deflated Anita Among who has since been made vulnerable and brought onto her knees.Convinced that what their tormentor had on her side was the watch/clock and not the time, the editors at both Namuwongo and Serena Conference Centre opted to wait Anita Among out until her day of reckoning finally came, like it did for several other powerful Musevenists before her.As of now, many former allies have pivoted and switched sides to join those who for long have been chorusing ‘enough of the Woman from Bukedea.’ And those still standing in loyal service to her must be demoralized and increasingly falling into disarray. The Friday night dramatic harvesting of Justine Namere, who had distinguished herself as her fearless enforcer (and endless mocking by Ugandans on social media), naturally must have had a chilling effect on many of them as its hard to tell who is going to be next. The NMG teams invested plenty of effort into unmasking the proceedings at the Thursday closed meeting at Entebbe State House where Anita Among’s fate was finally sealed.According to the NMG reporting, which was so exclusive to the extent that no one else had the detailed content they reported, was enthusiastically welcomed by the resentful public to the extent that their Friday edition sold out as early as midday. There was near stampede as Ugandans, believed not to be that much keen about newspaper reading anymore, stormed supermarkets and newsstands for a copy. The reporting in the Daily Monitor of Friday was also replicated on the NTV whose Friday Akawungezi edition plunged into even deeper details. The resultant video containing that report has since gone viral among Ugandans on social media and the contents are hilarious as can practably be. The content indicates that at some point, Gen Museveni demonstrated so much annoyance and made it clear that the outgoing Speaker was simply unforgivable. That the big man from Rwakitura had volumes of documents detailing the case against Anita Among whose alleged anomalous conduct the CDF Gen MK and his protege David Kabanda have lately been very outspoken against.Rebecca Kadaga, a former ally and mentor who Anita Among has been very belligerent towards for all these years, was among the lucky few who were present at the consequential tense State House meeting. Gen Museveni sought to use her to demonstrate a contrast on how public funds were appropriated and prudently utilized during her tenure as Speaker, in comparison to the Anita Among era (2021-2026). Also present were a group of carefully selected religious leaders including Bishop Anthony Zziwa of Kiyinda Mityana who also chairs the all-powerful Episcopal Conference. Also present was the national leader of the Born-Again Churches.Unexpectedly coming face to face with Rebecca Kadaga, who she had been treating with extreme contempt, must have been very painful for Anita Among who for all these years was being feared for being a very powerful person. Many considered her invincible in the country’s politics. She was expected to be synonymous with invincibility up to 2031 when she had promised to bow out of politics and retreat to private life. The NTV Friday reporting implies that the Bukedea Woman MP, who always craved being unopposed, left the President’s residence on Friday clearly deflated and demystified. She must have increasingly felt alone and frightened as people in the Gen MK universe unleashed one social media artillery after another. According to the same NTV reporting, at some point a clearly paranoid Anita Among was also faulted for being close and very friendly to a certain prince who Gen Museveni has always considered to be proud, contemptuous and generally hostile to his politics and Gen MK’s. That upon getting overwhelmed by all these accusations, the embattled Bukedea Woman MP turned guns on Rebecca Kadaga allegedly asserting that she was drowning into all these endless political problems because of witchcraft by the Kamuli Woman MP. Renowned for taking no prisoners, Kadaga immediately pushed back dramatically informing the meeting how herself had been a victim of witchcraft from the outgoing Speaker. She allegedly spoke about being attacked by evil spirits at her country home in Mbulamuti where she would end up having sleepless nights because of endless torment by evil spirits she believes had been instigated by her ruthless political opponent. The same NTV reporting indicates that Gen Museveni felt embarrassed and equally disgusted as the two powerful political ladies had their belligerent exchange, which as we now know ended in total obliteration of Anita Among, many of whose allies have since pivoted ands switched sides.
