Tottenham Hotspur have now identified Nicolo Fagioli as the solution to their midfield uncertainty ahead of the summer transfer window. There is no denying that Tottenham Hotspur’s midfield under Roberto De Zerbi has looked far better than it did under his predecessors. The Joao Palhinha and Rodrigo Bentancur partnership has been revitalised, with the pair complementing each other rather well. Bentancur brings control and composure on the ball, while Palhinha adds energy, tenacity and ball-winning ability to the centre of the pitch. However, with Palhinha only on loan from Bayern Munich, it remains to be seen whether he will still be at the club next season.Photo by Image Photo Agency/Getty ImagesTottenham step up Nicolo Fagioli interestA report from Corriere dello Sport now claims that Tottenham Hotspur have a growing interest in Fiorentina midfielder Nicolo Fagioli.Spurs Web previously reported on Tottenham’s initial interest in Fagioli, although we revealed at the time that a deal looked unlikely. However, much has changed since then.It is now understood that while Fiorentina are keen to keep the 25-year-old at the club, there is a feeling that if a ‘mind-blowing offer’ arrives, they may not be in a position to reject it.Instead, the Serie A side would use the money raised to sign a replacement, knowing that Fagioli’s value has risen enough to attract major clubs. It is also claimed that Roberto De Zerbi is looking to strengthen his midfield options and sees Fagioli as a player capable of helping in that area. However, while Tottenham remain keen, there have been no official offers at this stage, although Spurs are believed to be considering a move to convince both the player and Fiorentina.Spurs could find ideal Rodrigo Bentancur partner in Nicolo FagioliFagioli is a midfielder in a similar mould to Bentancur. He is composed on the ball and capable of dictating play, beating the press and controlling the tempo of matches. It is a profile Spurs do not have in abundance within their squad, and signing a player of that type would certainly improve the overall balance of the team. Fortunately for Tottenham, landing Fagioli may not prove overly difficult, given the finances involved are not excessively high.It is understood that the 25-year-old is valued at around £15m (€18m) on Fiorentina’s accounts, with the Italian club likely to pursue a capital gain. However, should he be sold this summer, part of the fee earned would go to Juventus, who are due 10 per cent of the profit. In terms of wages, Fagioli currently earns just €1.8m per season, which could make him easier to tempt with an improved salary offer. Spurs, however, may have to work closely with former director Fabio Paratici if they are to land the Fiorentina midfielder, with the director expected to play a significant role in any potential transfer.READ MORE: Tottenham are telling all interested buyers the same thing about Luka Vuskovic this summerThe post Nicolo Fagioli to Tottenham update: Roberto De Zerbi wants £15m Fiorentina star appeared first on Spurs Web.
