Foreign and European Affairs Minister Chris Fearne has met with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa in Brussels, where the two discussed strengthening cooperation between Malta and Palestine.During the meeting, held ahead of the Palestine Donor Group gathering, both sides agreed to explore closer collaboration through capacity-building initiatives in the medical sector as well as cultural exchanges.Fearne reaffirmed Malta’s longstanding support for Palestine, highlighting the country’s recognition of the State of Palestine in September 2025 and its continued backing of a two-state solution within international forums, including the European Union and the United Nations.The minister also reiterated Malta’s opposition to the forced displacement of Palestinians, saying the government’s position remains unequivocal.For his part, Prime Minister Mustafa outlined the humanitarian and economic challenges facing Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, calling on the European Union to provide emergency financial support to help address the ongoing crisis, which he said has been exacerbated by withheld revenues and banking restrictions.The meeting comes as international efforts continue to address the humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territories and support long-term stability in the region.What do you make of this?•
