Taiwan's defense ministry detected five Chinese naval vessels and ten official ships operating nearby. Taiwan's armed forces monitored the situation and responded accordingly to the detected vessels. Earlier, one Chinese naval vessel and four official ships were also detected operating around Taiwan. China hopes the United States will handle Taiwan-related issues with extra prudence. China asserts Taiwan is an inseparable part of its territory, a complex historical claim.
