Nine workers died after a waste mound collapsed at Antony Waste Handling Cell's plant. The incident occurred following exceptionally heavy rainfall which destabilized the waste mound. The company will cover all medical and funeral expenses for affected families. Financial assistance of twenty-five lakh rupees will be provided to each bereaved family. Operations at the waste-to-energy plant are temporarily suspended for safety assessments.
