A massive update from Bethesda Studios today confirmed a lot about the future of the Fallout franchise, including the official announcement of at least four games. The first game is Fallout 5, which the studio says is in “pre-production” while The Elder Scrolls 6 is the studios “primary development focus,” so I wouldn’t be expecting that new entry for a long, long, long time. Image via Bethesda “Fallout is one of our biggest priorities today,” the studio said. “Fallout 5 remains our long-range destination, and we have multiple Fallout projects in active development right now.” For more immediacy, the studio confirmed that remasters for both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are in the works. The note said “remasters” and not “remakes,” so it’s unclear if the titles will get the same treatment as The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. This is on top of the news that Obsidian Entertainment is also officially working on a new Fallout title, which was reported last week to be the case after the studio was hit with layoffs as part of Xbox’s 2026 “reset.” “Across Bethesda Game Studios, we’re building for the future of Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, and Starfield,” the studio said in its lengthy statement today. “We’re investing in our technology, bringing teams closer together, supporting our live games, expanding into new forms of entertainment, and developing the next generation of Bethesda RPGs. We couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead and wanted to share as much as we could today. We can’t thank you enough for all you’ve given to us and these worlds. And we can’t wait to continue them together.” Bethesda said it won’t be hosting a traditional Fallout Day broadcast this year, but it’s “already planning something special for Fallout’s 30th anniversary in 2027, when Fallout Day will be celebrated live in Washington, D.C..” That’s where Fallout 3 takes place, so, get ready to return to the capitol, I guess.0The post Fallout 5 is in pre-production, and Fallout 3 and New Vegas remasters are officially on the way appeared first on Destructoid.
