E3 2018. That’s when Bethesda Game Studios first announced The Elder Scrolls 6. It’s now 2026, and the developer has addressed the long-missing game as part of a lengthy new post about the studio’s future following a wave of layoffs earlier this month as part of Xbox’s 2026 “reset.” Image via Bethesda Bethesda announced multiple new Fallout games are in development, including Fallout 5 and remasters for Fallout 3 and New Vegas, but “The Elder Scrolls 6 is our primary development focus today, with the majority of our team currently working on the next chapter of the franchise.” “Our teams are now developing The Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5 on Creation Engine 3, a shared technology platform we’ve been building since Starfield’s launch,” Bethesda said today. “It allows our teams to support multiple projects simultaneously with new tools, rendering, and systems that define our games.” It’s been 15 years since The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, so players are rightfully getting a bit impatient. It’s clear that ES6 was announced way, way too soon, but Bethesda says the studio is “where we planned to be, loving how it looks, and playing it every day.” What other choice do Elder Scrolls fans have yet to trust the process, keep on waiting, and boot up Skyrim for the 99th time? Not only was ES6 announced eight years ago, but it hasn’t been seen since beyond the short teaser video above. Bethesda has been cooking on this project for a long time, so expectations are going to be sky high whenever it’s finally time to see more. Like the several Fallout games in the works, there’s no concrete release date or window for ES6, so…hopefully we’ll get some sort of update on the projects next year during Xbox’s June showcase. I’m not too hopeful for anything to pop up before then.0The post Bethesda says it’s ‘where we planned to be’ on Elder Scrolls 6 development 8 years after announcing it appeared first on Destructoid.
