We didn't have a dishwasher, I washed the baby bottles by hand. And they had breast pumps, but they were a new thing and as a result even more expensive than the most expensive ones today. Someone gave me a basic bottle washing machine for the bottles and nips, and I wore that thing out in two years, right about the time my daughter was totally weaned from bottles. I might possibly concede she could use a toaster, but not one that pricey. Sounds like she got used to having the finer things in life and is horrified that she might have to 'make do.'
