Malta has officially earned a spot among the world’s best cuisines, breaking into the TasteAtlas Awards 2025/26 rankings for the first time.The Mediterranean island ranked 94th in the list of the 100 Best Cuisines in the World, with three iconic local favourites leading the way: pastizzi, fenkata and ġbejna.According to the rankings, pastizzi and fenkata both received a 4.1-star rating, while ġbejna scored 3.8 stars.Italy claimed the top spot once again, followed by Greece, Peru, Portugal and Spain rounding out the top five.Other Mediterranean neighbours also ranked highly, with Türkiye placing seventh and France ninth.While Malta lands towards the lower end of the rankings, its inclusion marks a milestone after previously missing out on the global top 100.The annual TasteAtlas Awards are based on thousands of user ratings of traditional dishes, local ingredients and national cuisines from around the world.Have Malta’s iconic dishes earned their place among the world’s top 100 cuisines?•
