Police had responded to reports of excessive noise before issuing fines to 12 young tourists for breaching public order regulations and illegally disposing of waste. The group was fined a combined €2,000.The Malta Tourism Authority later found that eight of the nine apartments in the block were operating in breach of their licence conditions, ordering tourists to vacate the premises before issuing an Enforcement Notice to immediately close the entire property until it complies with legal and regulatory requirements.That enforcement action followed footage shared with Lovin Malta showing bottles being thrown from balconies onto parked cars below, prompting renewed calls for stronger enforcement against disruptive behaviour in residential areas.Swieqi Deputy Mayor Jordan Galea Pace had warned that unsustainable tourism is increasingly impacting residents’ quality of life, while police said they issued a total of 17 on-the-spot fines over the weekend as part of ongoing efforts to maintain public order.What do you make of this?•
