Leandro Paredes should be banned from the whole of the next World Cup for throwing punches following the end of the final. That’s according to talkSPORT’s Gabby Agbonlahor, who slammed Paredes ahead of FIFA‘s upcoming investigation into his actions.Agbonlahor has called for Paredes to be handed a huge ban for his behaviourGettyThe Argentina midfielder was involved in chaotic post-match scenes in New York, New Jersey, as things turned violent. After the final whistle blew and Spain had beaten Lionel Messi and co. to become world champions for a second time, Paredes completely lost control, throwing punches and pushing Spanish players. He was shown a red card after full-time for his aggression towards Gavi and Eric Garcia, who found themselves on the receiving end of a meltdown in the Argentinian camp.Paredes’ behaviour led to major backlash – and Agbonlahor thinks the 32-year-old should be banned for a long time.Insisting that harsh punishment must now be dished out, Agbonlahor said on the talkSPORT Breakfast show: “If you watch it back, Paredes on Garcia, he grabs his neck. And the way Garcia’s neck jolts, that’s assault, it’s as simple as that.“You want to feel safe on the pitch, the punishment has to be that big that no one ever does that again.“No matter what happens in football, you can be angry you lost, but be classy in defeat. If you want to fight Paredes, there are places to fight – not on the pitch against Garcia.“And the way he was manhandling Gavi, a 21-year-old kid, and you were throwing him around on the pitch, that’s someone’s son, brother.“Disgraceful. I would ban him from the whole next tournament if I had my way. Coward.”Co-host Jeff Stelling then added: “They [Argentina] were shameless, classless thugs during the game, and after the game as well.”Paredes lost his cool and started fighting multiple Spain starsGettyView Tweet: https://t.co/lPURafP9NIFIFA set to investigateParedes and Argentina seem sure to be eventually hit with punishment for their post-final actions on Sunday.
