POORNACHANDRA KUMARFor the first time ever, the Tirupati chapter of International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) conducted the ‘Jagannath Rath Yatra,’ which drew huge crowds from the adjoining villages on Monday (July 20, 2026).The chariot carrying the deities of Lord Jagannath and his siblings Baladev and Subhadra Devi started at PLR Convention Hall on Annamayya Marg, went up to M.R. Palle Circle, and turned back to reach the starting point. This is also the first time a major religious procession has been held on the city’s expanding southern side.Chanting ‘Hari Nama Sankeertan,’ the devotees cheerfully pulled the chariot, while the police regulated traffic during the procession. As the members of the ISKCON order played traditional drums and cymbals, devotees danced in spiritual ecstasy.
