Works to remove the car lodged inside an abandoned building in Attard are set to begin on Monday, almost three weeks after the dramatic crash left it embedded in the structure.The incident happened at around 3.30am on 2nd July, when a vehicle carrying two boys, aged 16 and 13, slammed into the building on the corner of Triq Il-Kbira.Both sustained injuries, while it remains unclear which of the two was driving at the time.The crash forced the closure of a stretch of Mdina Road, sparking frustration among residents and motorists over the lengthy disruption.However, Attard Mayor Stefan Cordina had previously explained that the delay was due to the building’s unstable condition, with the structure effectively resting on the vehicle.Removing it too soon risked triggering a collapse, while a government-appointed architect spent the past weeks assessing the safest way forward.The local council has now confirmed it was informed over the weekend that works will begin on Monday to remove the vehicle, eliminate the hazard and reopen the road.If all goes according to plan, the affected stretch of road could finally reopen after nearly 20 days of closure.Do you think the situation was handled as efficiently as it could have been?•
