Media personality and singer Ahlam Ismail, known as Lamu, has opened up about the challenges she faced while pursuing a career in Uganda’s music industry, revealing that several setbacks behind the scenes derailed her journey.Lamu, who was once signed to Mr. Eazi’s emPawa Africa record label, said there were issues that unfolded behind closed doors which she is still not ready to disclose in full.There were definitely things going on behind the scenes that I can’t tell in full detail. Certain deals seemed clear-cut, but then the people we hoped would help us ended up letting us down.She also revealed that she gave up a promising future in medicine to pursue music, a decision that came with immense pressure and personal struggles.I came into music after dropping out of medical school.
