A customer at LongHorn Steakhouse posted a TikTok video showing what he claimed was an undersized steak, and the clip has been drawing significant attention online. The video was uploaded by the account @dccustomjewelry, which goes by the name DCCUSTOMJEWELRY on the platform, and had gathered over 29.7M views at the time of writing. In the video, a plate is shown up close at what appears to be a LongHorn Steakhouse location. The plate includes a loaded baked potato, a side of greens, and a piece of steak that the customer claimed was his ordered 6oz cut. To show how small the steak appeared, he pressed his index finger down on it in front of the camera. On-screen text in the video read: “check out my generous 6oz cut steak from @LonghornSteakhouse and then they tried to guilt me into accepting this was normal. I can eyeball steak on the scale every time. SMH.” The caption accompanying the post added: “when times are hard they raise the price and give you half.” A separate Facebook post raised a similar complaint about the chain’s portion sizes The TikTok post was not an isolated complaint. A Facebook post from the page “Rate My Plate,” also flagged what the poster described as small portion sizes at LongHorn Steakhouse. The poster wrote: “Longhorn portion sizes got me feeling like I ordered from the kids’ menu not bad in flavor,” suggesting the flavor was acceptable but the amount of food felt insufficient. This is not the first time a LongHorn order has disappointed a customer; a woman who ordered a LongHorn Steakhouse salmon to go also took to social media to share her experience. @dccustomjewelry when times are hard they raise the price and give you half. #longhornsteakhouse #viral #steak #food #inflation ♬ original sound – DCCUSTOMJEWELRY The photo attached to the Facebook post showed a man sitting in what appeared to be a LongHorn Steakhouse booth, smiling at the camera while taking a bite of food. His plate, partially visible at the bottom of the image, appeared to contain broccoli, French fries, and a small piece of steak. Back on TikTok, the comments section drew a wide range of reactions from viewers. Some sided with the customer. User Mark Gavin wrote, “Ask them to look up a picture of a 6 oz steak.” Another user added, “Look up others 6 oz steak in this app from longhorn. Not normal,” suggesting other users had shared similar experiences on the platform. Another commenter wrote, “The worst part, multiple people saw that plate of food and didn’t think to stop it from being brought out to you. Disrespectful.” Meanwhile, a user commented, “That’s a steak nugget from Arby’s.” Portion size concerns at the chain have surfaced in other ways, too, as seen in LongHorn Steakhouse reducing its kids’ sirloin from 6oz to 4oz after adults reportedly used it as a budget dining option. Not all commenters agreed with the customer’s assessment, however. A user wrote, “That thing is huge. Way bigger than average… it was just cold in there.” Another user quipped, “Maybe it was a misteak.” The TikTok customer alleged that staff at the restaurant tried to convince him the portion size he received was normal, which he appeared to reject. No response from LongHorn Steakhouse was included in either post, and the chain had not publicly commented on either complaint at the time this article was written.
