Prime Minister Robert Abela has paid tribute to DJ Ryan Spiteri and the woman who died alongside him in Marsaskala, while urging the public to refrain from speculation following the tragedy.In a social media post, Abela described Ryan as “not only a DJ who brought joy to many through his music”, but also as someone he had the opportunity to meet on several occasions.“I saw in him a person full of humility and energy,” the Prime Minister wrote.Abela extended his condolences to Ryan’s family, relatives, friends and everyone who knew and loved him, as well as to the family of the other victim.He also used the opportunity to remind people of the responsibility they carry when commenting online, particularly while investigations are still ongoing.“This tragedy should remind us of the responsibility we all have in the way we use our words, especially on social media,” he said.The Prime Minister urged people to think about the impact of speculation on grieving families, saying that “truth, respect and a sense of humanity should always come before anything else.”•
