Fresh from his epic journey home after the Trojan War, Matt Damon's Odysseus has one more trip planned: riding the battle bus into Fortnite. That's right, the hero of Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey will land in Epic Games' battle royale item shop tomorrow, Thursday, July 16, following the game's next big update. That's the same one that's adding England legend David Beckham, as well as a slew of Batman characters in swimsuits.Epic Games has shown off footage of Odysseus' skin in action — and yes, it's clearly based on the likeness of Matt Damon.Fortnite leaker ShiinaBR has also posted an image of a second The Odyssey skin, that of the hulking Agamemnon, played by Benny Safdie in the movie.BOTH ODYSSEY FORTNITE SKINS REVEALEDOdysseus and Agamemnon drop on July 16 pic.twitter.com/9dQxDFamHx— Shiina (@ShiinaBR) July 15, 2026 If you fancy trying your luck at getting Odysseus for free, there's a typical in-game tournament to try and do so. For the vast majority of players, however, a low-ranking entry here will at least award you an Odyssey-themed loading screen. It's hard to imagine Homer (the poet, not the Simpson) anticipating that anyone from his epic ode would get turned into a Fortnite skin. Then again, there's plenty of that going around — such as the audio version of the poem read by an AI reproduction of Michael Caine's voice, or the entirely AI-generated Odyssey movie that has been labelled as "Slopbuster" rather than a blockbuster. All 2 hours and 53 minutes of The Odyssey set sail in theaters later this week on July 17, 2026. In addition to its star-studded cast, fans can expect a film that Nolan says he crafted to "do away" with "cultural prejudices" about the ancient world. It will also feature an enormous practical Cyclops. Now why isn't that joining Fortnite too?Tom Phillips is IGN's News Editor.
