Walt Disney World Resort has once again cleared a significant patch of land outside Magic Kingdom Park, this time for the development of an office lot for Walt Disney Imagineering, as they simultaneously develop multiple expansions at the original Central Florida Disney park.The Future of the Magic KingdomAt D23 Expo 2024, Walt Disney World Resort announced the largest expansion in the history of the Magic Kingdom. This week, Disney cleared land near Magic Kingdom Park for an office complex for Walt Disney Imagineering as they develop the new theme park areas.Latest Construction UpdateOn Wednesday, WDWNT reported that a significant amount of land had been cleared at what Walt Disney World Resort has called the STOLport site outside Magic Kingdom Park. STOLport sits on the former site of the Walt Disney World Airport, which has not been active in several decades.Credit: Tim Corradino, FlickrLast summer, the South Florida Water Management District approved a 12.5-acre expansion (known as “Project K“) in this area for the construction of Walt Disney Imagineering offices. This complex will support the development of the Disney Villains land and Piston Peak National Park.tPermits indicate that Walt Disney World Resort plans to build two new buildings in the area, along with additional infrastructure such as sidewalks, parking areas, and utilities. Two retention ponds in the area will be modified to accommodate the new development.Credit: Disney / The South Florida Water Management DistrictAlongside the recent land clearing, Walt Disney World Resort has also brought some construction equipment to the area, including concrete drainage pipes and culverts. At least three unused structures that remained on the site from previous use have been demolished.
