Disney has officially extended its ban on fireworks after local authorities extended a ban initially set to end on July 15.Extreme temperatures have disrupted operations across multiple Disney resorts this summer, forcing parks to adapt outdoor entertainment, character appearances, and nighttime spectaculars – including the removal of pyrotechnics – as conditions become increasingly difficult for guests and cast members.Credit: DisneyWalt Disney World Resort has faced repeated heat advisories, with heat index values reaching roughly 110 degrees Fahrenheit. Portable fans were deployed last week to cool cast members, while wait times have been lower than average amid the ongoing conditions.Entertainment adjustments included updates to the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade, moving costumed characters onto floats while face characters walk along the parade route.Across the pond, a June heatwave saw costumed characters removed from Disney Stars on Parade at Disneyland Paris. Some character meet-and-greets were also altered, while outdoor attractions temporarily closed.Credit: DisneyNow, the resort is facing several more nights without fireworks after officials extended an emergency order.Fireworks Ban Extended Through July 19The restriction applies to Seine-et-Marne, the French department containing Disneyland Paris.Local authorities first introduced the ban on July 10 after high temperatures created an exceptional risk of fire across the region.Fireworks, pyrotechnic displays, bonfires, and campfires were prohibited across outdoor public and private spaces. Officials also suspended the approval of exceptional permits that would normally allow fire-related events to proceed. The order was initially scheduled to expire on July 15. However, authorities have now extended the restriction through July 19. In light of the exceptional circumstances in the Seine-et-Marne department, with all available emergency resources being deployed to the full, the order banning fireworks has been extended until 19 July inclusive. The resort had promoted a new spectacular featuring Tinker Bell and several Disney stories connected to France, including Beauty and the Beast, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Ratatouille, and The Aristocats.Credit: DisneyHowever, the fireworks ban meant the show went ahead using drones and projections, with its planned pyrotechnics removed.Disney had warned guests ahead of the performance that changing conditions could require further alterations or potentially force the show’s cancellation.“We can’t wait for you to discover this new show, which will take you on a journey around the world with Tinker Bell through beloved Disney and Pixar classics. Emotion and magic will light up the sky with a unique drone display and enchanting projections on Sleeping Beauty Castle.”Other fireworks displays and public celebrations across France were also altered or axed as authorities responded to the elevated fire risk. While Disneyland Paris has made several adjustments to improve guest safety during the summer heat – such as adding “refreshment zones” to sit in the shade, plus incorporating more misters and making them easy to locate via the resort’s app – several have come away from recent trips feeling disappointed.Credit: Tom Page, FlickrAs one guest noted, “This is a once in a life time trip for us. We scrimped and saved to be here. We’ve brought everything to keep us cool, taken breaks in the shade, put on brave faces and tried to push through it, but I’m honestly done. … Its obviously not the park’s fault that it’s hot, but it has made the trip miserable, and there is no way to make it better.”Others have shared similar sentiments, particularly about mass closures of outdoor attractions during peak temperatures.Disruptions are set to continue, with a severe high-temperature warning in effect again at Disneyland Paris today (July 15). However, cooler temperatures are forecast for the weekend and early next week. What do you think of the fireworks ban?The post Disney Guests Face Even More Disappointment as Fireworks Ban Is Prolonged appeared first on Inside the Magic.
