All of the food banks in my area are run by churches. They all give you a number when you sign in, and then they call out 3-10 numbers at a time. One of them makes you sit through an entire church service or you don't get the food (pretty sure that's illegal). They don't even begin calling numbers till the service is over. They insist on praying with you and asking you if you have a close personal relationship with Jesus. Everyone is really uppity. I was there for four hours, and did not get any food because I finally had to leave to go to work. One has a devotional service with singing while numbers are being called, but you aren't required to sit in on the service. They ask you if they can pray with you when you get the food, and they don't act weird toward you if you decline any of the religious stuff. Most of the volunteers are friendly. I was there for two hours. One just lets people chill and talk at tables in the fellowship hall with donated cookies, coffee, and water while they wait for their number to be called. They ask if you have anything you would like them to pray with you about when you get the food, and you are free to decline. Everyone is so nice there. I was there for about one hour. I like that one the best.
