Watch: Żibel Removes Three Ghost Nets And An Anchor From Buġibba Seabed

Wait 5 sec.

Local environmental NGO Żibel has successfully recovered three ghost nets and an abandoned anchor during its latest marine clean-up in Buġibba.Sharing photos from the dive, the organisation revealed its team of volunteers removed the debris from the seabed as part of its ongoing mission to protect Malta’s marine environment.Ghost nets, abandoned, lost or discarded fishing nets, continue to pose a major threat to marine ecosystems. Often left drifting through the sea or tangled on reefs, they can trap fish, turtles and other marine life long after they’ve been discarded, making them a persistent problem in Maltese waters.Żibel also encouraged anyone interested in making a difference to join its dive crew or support its clean-up initiatives as it continues working to keep Malta’s seas free from marine litter.Tag someone who should volunteer!Video credits to @zibelofficial View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lovin Malta (@lovinmalta)•
