Hugo Oliveira is hoping to help continue Strasbourg's upward trajectory after he was announced as the Ligue 1 side's new head coach ahead of the 2026-27 season.Oliveira has put pen to paper on a reported three-year contract, and comes in to replace Gary O'Neil, who joined newly-promoted Premier League outfit Ipswich Town last month.The 47-year-old arrives fresh from leading Famalicao to a fifth-place finish in the Primeira Liga last season and just missing out on a spot in the Conference League.During his time in Portugal, Oliveira took charge of 55 top-flight matches, winning 23 (D16 L16), averaging a win percentage of 41.8% in the first managerial role of his career. Oliveira previously spent seven ‌years in the Premier League as a member of Marco Silva's coaching staff at Fulham, Everton, Hull City and Watford.He also served as the goalkeeping coach with Portugal's national team from 2009 to 2011 and held the same role at Benfica between 2011 and 2016.
