talkSPORT to broadcast Commonwealth Games for Glasgow 2026

talkSPORT has signed winning pedigree for its historic coverage of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow – in association with BYD. It’s the first time a UK commercial radio station has been an official broadcast partner of the event and to go with it, Greg Rutherford will be part of the coverage – which starts on 23 July and runs until 2 August – each evening. Rutherford is well known to athletics fans for his medal winning exploits at both Olympic and Commonwealth levelGetty Images - GettyGreg competed for Team England in 2014, winning gold the last time the Games were held in Glasgow and won gold for Team GB on Super Saturday at the 2012 Olympics.He will be in the studio alongside host Natalie Sawyer who will lead the team presenting Commonwealth Games Kick Off each evening from 7pm across the talkSPORT network.Olympic champion Christine Ohuruogu, who won gold at Beijing in 2008, will be part of our athletics commentary every night at Scotstoun Stadium. Christine also won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne in 2006 and was part of a medal winning relay quartet in Glasgow in 2014 for Team England.The other new signing is 2024 Olympic boxing bronze medallist, Lewis Richardson, who won a medal at Birmingham 2022, and is joining talkSPORT every day during Glasgow 2026 to offer his analysis of the boxing competition.Michael Weadock will be joining Ohuruogu in Glasgow for live commentary on all the track and field events. Michael is talkSPORT’s long time athletics correspondent and will be covering his fourth consecutive Commonwealth Games for the station.
