Malta’s labour market continued its upward trend in February 2026, with the number of people in full-time employment rising to 306,386.New figures show this represents a 4.4% increase compared to February 2025, while full-time employment also edged up by 0.3% compared to the previous month.The private sector remained the country’s biggest employer, with 250,429 people in full-time jobs, up 4.6% year-on-year. Meanwhile, full-time employment in the public sector reached 55,957, marking a 3.7% annual increase.Part-time employment as a primary job also continued to rise, reaching 36,472, an increase of 6.7% compared to the same month last year and 0.7% higher than January.Employment growth was recorded among both men and women. Full-time employment among men rose to 184,434, while the number of women in full-time work reached 121,952—both reflecting a 4.4% increase over February 2025.The latest figures point to continued growth across Malta’s labour market, with employment levels increasing steadily in both the private and public sectors.What do you make of these statistics?•
