2027’s game release schedule grows as Game of Thrones: War for Westeros is delayed

2027 is shaping up to be one of the busiest for video games ever, simply because everyone is so scared of GTA 6 that they’re moving their releases to months before or after Rockstar’s next big blockbuster. Game of Thrones: War for Westeros, an RTS set in the film version of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire universe, has officially been delayed to 2027 so the developers could ensure the game meets its targeted quality. According to Eurogamer, this delay will enable the studio to have “the time needed to continue building towards that goal and ensure that the game reaches the high level of quality we are aiming for.” Image via PlaySide “We remain unwavering in our mission to deliver a real-time strategy game set in the world of Westeros that meets the expectations of both RTS players and Game of Thrones fans,” the developers said in a community post. The exact release date for the game is currently unknown, but the studio did say it’s going to be sometime “early” next year. Hopefully the game does not conflict with so many other releases from that same window and gets overshadowed, since it does genuinely look like an interesting take on the world of Westeros. From what we’ve seen so far, it is quite reminiscent of modern Total War when it comes to its combat and even evokes feelings of Battle for Middle-earth and, of course, shares vibes with classic RTS games like Age of Empires. If it lives up to expectations, we could finally have a new major RTS present on the market with a healthy community to boot, since it’s been a painfully long time since the last such game whose name I can’t even recall.0The post 2027’s game release schedule grows as Game of Thrones: War for Westeros is delayed appeared first on Destructoid.
